The Russian Fallout Begins...

The Soviet president asked all responsible for the low medal count to Resign or they will be fired:

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/olym...ver-sochi.html

The Soviet president seems especially mad that he was unable to see the Russians play for the Hockey Gold Medal.

I wonder if their families will go into hiding. I wouldn't want to be sent to a Gulag. I bet the KGB will be after them. A public execution isn't out of the question.

To be honest, I'd be worried about Sochi 2012 if I were the Russians. Underachieved in general in Vancouver, plus the hockey team didn't medal. Everyone knows that they're offense will be just as good or better in 2012, but their defense looks so far like it'll be even worse then.

They'll be expected to do what Canada did after not medaling at the last games then getting Gold at home. Should be interesting.

PS NHL players better get to play or I'm going to take a poop on Bettman

Sochi 2012 should be fine. Not sure anyone is going to participate in any games at that time. 2014 perhaps...

The Russians are in trouble I believe. Where are their Dustin Browns, Brendan Morrows, Shea Weber, Ryan Suter type of players? They don't have 'em and as far as I know those guy's aren't coming. If you don't have the stud d-men and the role players like Morrow/Brown etc you won't win.

If they fill half their team with KHL players the results will be very similar in 2014. Honestly if Canada for some reason doesn't win the gold, I really hope that the US team can win it on Russian soil. Just to see the reaction of the people in Russia.

They have to have some big shake-ups in how they approach their hockey programs. We went through it in Canada and we have been seeing the results of that the last 5-6 years. Russian hockey arrogance will probably prevent that from happening though.

How appropriate considering his reaction to the games.
