What's next? Some of you think we should get a 1st, two 2nds and two 3rds for Moreau? Some of you need to give your heads a shake.

Sad to see Grebs go. I know he's had a bad year, but I thought his upside was better than this. They chose Gilbert I guess.

Later days Garbagekov

Yeah I think we're stuck with Staois. Oh well, that'll be cap relief for next, next summer. Hopefully we can move Moreau to Toronto though at least.

If he can trade Horcoff without giving up a significant asset, I will bow to the altar of Tambellini.

[b]Grebs needs a QA of close to 3 mill next year or he is gone as ufa. There is no way we should be spending that much on him. If his QA was 1.5 mill, he would still be an oiler.[/b

I don't like this deal in isolation. The 2nd round pick has at best about a 1 in 6 chance of actually seeing much more than a cup of coffee in the NHL. If it is a means to and end, then I might be persuaded. But my big fear is that after making their moves the Oilers end up with cap space but further from the prize.

People are saying the KHL is a possibility.

We need to move some bodies out and rebuild the team. Grebs won't make this team better long term.

I am happy enough.
I'm with you, happy enough. I just want to see some bodies moved.

Can we all agree that when Louiss posts a "rumour" it should just go in the done deals section?

Good deal.

Get rid of a guy who isn't in the long term plans and not have to take a contract back plus get a top 50 draft pick.

Nice Tambo.

This isn't Grebs for a 2nd.

This is Grebs for a 2nd and $3mil in cap space!!!

If Grebs made $1.2 mil, then it is a terrible deal.

Thumbs up.

Absolutely no reason to do this..none. Could have kept him for a future without the expensive old players......I can see Tambellini has learned nothing...
There's 3 million reasons why this was done.

There's going to be many more million reasons why more players are moved for next to nothing.

It's all about Cap space and gutting this current Roster.

I wonder if this is the deal Mr. Bugg was talking about or if something else is going down.

Bringing up Chorney to replace him. Let's face it, he played terrible this year, is a pain in the butt to sign, and has always been incosistent. Good deal I say, should be an early second round pick.

Exactly, I love how everyone screams for change and when it comes they cry about it.

How can anyone justify paying him 3m next year? He's a disaster in his own end and not worth anything remotely close to that kind of money.

With Grebs gone now, I think Gilbert is key to our rebuilding phase. Like most of our team, Gilbert is having an off-year.

totally agree, people forget how redundant the oilers blueline is...

gilbert, lubo, and chroney and petry coming up, all have a lot of the same skill sets, with petry hopefully having toughness and skill...

it's a good deal, i liked grebs, but we just freed up a lot of money by trading a player we can easily replace....

thumbs up...
