He was probably the best prospect outside the NHL, before his back injury, and looks like he's returning to form. Don't count him out.
As opposed to the best prospect inside the NHL? Doesn't prospect refer to prospective NHL player?
Unless he flat-out dominates the next 4 NHL seasons, he won't get a spot over guys like Mike Richards or Jordan Staal. I'd throw Toews in there as well but he's as much of a lock as anyone on the 2014 team.

We won't be favorites but could be a contender. But realistically Sweden would fight for the bronze with USA or Russia. In 2018 however we will be realistic contenders for the gold again if all the prospects continue their good development.

The forward crop is a mix between young players and players in their prime. Some players like Landeskog and Klingberg are maybe too young but I included them since we really badly need size and grit. In almost every tournamnet our exit is because of our lack of drive to the net and making the garbage goals. In this Olympics it was also exposed that our players wasn't good at chasing when behind

The defense is very young and might even be too young. But at 2014 I really think they are the best we'll have. The top 4 are maybe the most talented defensemen we've had, since Lidstrom. Remember that Doughty dominated this year in the OG and I think Adam Larsson will be about as good come 2014. Our defensive pool is really deep so it hurts to leave some really good defensemen out of even the taxi squad. I'm a bit worried that the defense will be too offensive minded. We usually have a hard time to clear our own crease when we play against Canada and the US.
Lundqvist (31)
Markstrom (23)
J. Gustavsson (29)
Taxi:
Enroth (25)
D. Larsson (28)
For the first time we will have to superstar goalies, in Markstrom and Lundqvist and that is a very good thing. Now we won't be vunerable to injuries and bad form. Enroth and Gustavsson is basically a wash for the 3rd spot.
Steven Stamkos - Sidney Crosby - Eric Staal
Corey Perry - Ryan Getzlaf - Jeff Carter
Dany Heatley - Jason Spezza - Rick Nash
Jordan Staal - Mike Richards - Jonathan Toews
(Milan Lucic)
Duncan Keith - Brent Seabrook
Shea Weber - Dion Phaneuf
Drew Doughty - Tyler Myers
(Mike Green)
I would like to hear from Czechs more familiar with the system at home in regards to this. In particular if there is anyone up and coming that may be there for 2014 that we don't have in the NHL or prominent in the KHL right now.
Matt Duchene will be on Team Canada in Sochi if Bettman decides to let NHLer's go. By 2014 Duchene is going to be one of the best players in this league. Unbelievable talent.
How is Hall a lock when he has yet to play a game in the NHL?
He will be in his 4th year in the league, Crosby came close as a rookie, as did Stamkos in his second year, while Toews made it in his 3rd year and won the tournament Top Forward award. Besides Crosby, Hall is more heralded than the others were.
On the big ice, Hall's speed is going to be a major asset, especially with all the extra room to go wide around defenders, which was a weakness for teams against Canada this year on small ice and will be even more evident on bigger ice. Plus he is a natural LW, which also works in his favor.
I haven't stopped celebrating the 2010 Olympic win yet, get back to me in a couple of years.
Exactly. This shouldn't even be begin to be brought up for another couple years until we're still a couple years away from the games. Also, AFTER the 2012 London games, Sochi will officially be next up so that seems like a good time.
Just way too far away.
My one bold prediction: Taylor Hall makes the team.
The world will end in 2012 so I don't know why you guys are predicting the for 2014. Just joking
Dany Heatley 'A' - Sidney Crosby 'C' - Steven Stamkos
Eric Staal - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry
Mike Richards - Johnathon Toews 'A' - Rick Nash
Matt Duchene - John Tavares - Jeff Carter Taylor Hall/Jordan Staal
Drew Doughty 'A' - Duncan Keith
Dion Phaneuf - Shea Weber
Tyler Myers - Mike Green Bouwmeester
Roberto Luongo
Marc-Andre Fleury Steve Mason
Stamkos will lead the tourny in goals And the Phaneuf - Weber line will be scary and will shut down other teams top forwards, also Luongo will start just like Brodeur did (atleast the 2nd and 3rd game) but MAF may end it if Luongo gets off at a bad start.
People that have a chance:
Jarome Iginla
Luke Schenn
Marc Staal
James Neal
Evander Kane
There will probably be someone that we will never expect now but will make it in 2014 like maybe Luca Caputi or Tyler Bozak?
