@predsradio (Tom Callahan) reporting that Boyd will center a fourth line of Wilson and Tootoo this afternoon. Meaning O'Reilly is the odd-man out...

It's a defense mechanism/superstition. In reality I'm always hopeful. On the surface I appear gloomy. Tends to work out more often than not.

Looks like this is a must win, DET winning 4-2 Huet gets pulled. We need to stay 3 up. CAL and DET are too f'in close.

Detroit's up 5-2 in with ten to go in the third, so we have got to win this one.

Suter - Hamhuis is the top pairing tonight in Weber's absence...

Dumont over pursues, Grebeshkov sees that and backs off, but doesn't pick anyone up...Demitra finds Edler all alone... 1-0 Canucks...

Arnott gets a feed from Erat and winds up from his favorite spot, deflects off a Canuck defenseman and Luongo, but crosses the goal line and the Preds have a PP goal! 1-1...

Haven't been able to actually tell how we've been playing because of my trouble with the feeds, but at least it's tied after one. Are we missing Weber too badly yet?

Yes and no. Klein is playing better so far, Suter is Suter, and Hamhuis, Bouillon, and Grebeshkov have all stepped up. Franson caught up ice to generate a 2 on 1 early, but was forced into PK duty with Hamhuis (fighting) and Grebs (high-stick) in the box and laid a nice hip-check along the half-boards to stop the rush.

On the PP we actually worked the puck around a little more and had more movement away from the puck too leading to Arnott's goal. Not just sitting there, standing on X's waiting for Shea to get open to bomb away...

I don't really think it'll hurt so much until the third period when guys are going to be exceeding their normal ice time loads. Hamhuis is actually a better skater than Weber and paired against the Sedins all night, it might not be that bad of a tradeoff...

Something that bothered me in the closing minute of the period...

The fourth line (Wilson - Boyd - Tootoo) turned the puck over twice on the same shift, against the Sedins of all people, just inside the offensive blue line. That cannot happen...get it in, get it deep, get in on the forecheck...

In the second period, especially with the long change, a turnover in that area is gonna pin your defense on the ice or even worse catch them changing and lead to a breakaway.

I'm sure they've been talked to, but it's not something I want to see again for the rest of this game...

Yeah I was watching the one you linked originally, switched because of the lag (which was much more than just a little amount for me at the time), and realized that the other two I could find were a lot worse. One wouldn't even load, and the other would freeze every few minutes. I'm back to Justin.tv and it seems to have gotten a little better. Still kind of choppy.

Hamhuis and Suter have played well together in the past. Suter is the kind of defenseman who will make any partner look better. I just hope Hamhuis doesn't cough up the puck too often this afternoon.

I'm not sure why I never thought about it, but your point about our powerplay moving the puck more without Weber makes sense. The second unit has looked to be the more active of the two units all season, and Weber could be the reason for that. I'm not saying it's his fault, but his teammates do seem to only want to get him open for a blast that EVERYONE in the building knows will come if given a chance. I wonder why veterans continue to think it will be very effective.

Demitra turns it over in the NZ, Tootoo gets the puck and takes off on a 2 on 1 with Wilson, defenseman takes away Wilson, Tootoo blasts it, follows his own shot, rebound shot right back into Luongo, but pops up and over him into the net...

Preds lead 2-1!
