What to do with Eberle when Pats are done

Does he go to Springfield? Or any chance he comes up to the main team?

He'll likely be in Springfield and probably teach those bums a thing or two.

The falcons are a worse mess than we are and people want to send him there?

I'd throw him right into the fire and put him on Gagner and Penner's line. 9 games isn't going to ruin him. If anything it will give him a better idea of what he needs to do this summer and how hard he's going to need to work.

Send him on a vacation so he doesn't get anywhere near this organization. At least until the summer.

NHL.

Sell some tickets, get an idea of what he needs to improve on over the summer, give us a reason to watch. I highly doubt 9 games will affect his development negatively in any way, the "keep him away" comments are kind of silly to me.

He can always play in the AHL next year.

Would it be a tryout since he's got an ELC though?

And given how much NHL/AHL season is left, I would suspect they send him to the Falcons when the Pats are done, and maybe bring him up for the last few Oiler games (but not for 10).

Pats should've traded him to a WHL contender.

Apparently their GM takes pride in stars players starting and finishing their careers with the Pats.

Like you are able to use a prospect at the start of the year for 9 games, you can use him at the end of the year for 9 without burning a year of his contract up.

Sk13 is 100% correct with his assesment. Oil tickect aren't be used and if you can use every ticket that means more money from consessions etc. to the owners.

Also the reason he wasn't traded to a contender in the WHL is because whoever the GM of Regina is, tends to keep guys that contributed as much as Eberle did to the team and community.

Agreed, good idea.

If he finds it tough then he knows how much harder he has to train in the off season to make the permanent leap forward. Also gives us fans a good glimpse.

Bring him to the show.. it'll get people watching. I know I'll be making sure I catch all 9 of those games if he is playing. Hell, might even go to a bar to catch PPV if that's what it takes.

NHL for a few games and then down to Stockton to play some playoff hockey. I imagine the ECHL is still an upgrade over the dub.

The ECHL? Really?

I think he'd easily be the best player. What's the point?

I shook my head too but, really what else are you going to do. Send him home? The Oilers and the falcons will be done as they aren't making the playoffs, so why not send him to our next best team in Stockton. Let him play, get some playoff experience. Surely thats more valuable than off season training.

I say 9 games with the Oilers then send him to the Thunder for playoffs, granted that is an available option without kicking his contract into gear.

NHL to ECHL? In theory it makes sense because the games will be meaningful but it would be such a drop off in competition. It's huge.

As others have said, he'll hit the NHL for 9 games, where I suspect he'll accomplish just enough to spawn dozens of summer threads predicting his rookie season output as something along the lines of 30-40-70 and a sure fire Calder nominee.

I agree with the 9 game NHL trial. I don't see the harm and if he actually lights it up a bit he could get some consideration for the World Championships. With Hemsky out it isn't a stretch that he would be the most talented offensive forward in the Oilers line-up.

Sure but its still an improvement over the WHL. Really hockey is hockey and after the NHL/AHL season is over the ECHL is his next best option. Or you could send him home to lift some weights?
