Will Kerry Fraser get an ovation?

As per Marc-André Godin, this is Kerry Fraser last game (in Montreal). Will he get an ovation? What do you think of his career?

Quote:
"À noter que le match de ce soir sera le dernier de la carrière de l'arbitre Kerry Fraser À MONTRÉAL. Il était entendu qu'il prendrait sa retraite au terme de la présente saison.

Il a lui-même demandé à officier son dernier match à Montréal."

Probably not because many casual fans wouldn't know. If it's mentioned at the game, then I don't see why not.

Probably one of the most iconic referees in the NHL. For good and bad reasons. If there is one referees that more than half of NHL fans know, its him. Hope they give him a good round of applause.

Mild ovation probably, I hope not though, I have never forgiven him for giving Therrien an extra bench minor in the 02 playoffs against Carolina, who does that, honestly?

During the game he will rip off his jersey and he will now have the MTL barber shop jersey while screaming ''GO HABS GO". Then he will expulse Eric Staal and he will give the habs a powerplay for the rest of the game.

the entire team fell apart after that. Even Gilmour kind of mailed it in after that. I think the players really blamed Therrien for costing us that series.

woa, finishing his last gmae in montreal. thats a welcome compliment.

Fraser might have been disliked mostly because he makes alot of judgment calls and like to keep the refing within his boundaries. thats the qualatiy i saw in fraser, that would be my opinion on him.

Actually, it's his last game reffing the Habs.

Quote:
Fraser's final game is April 11 in Philadelphia. He's requested Original Six teams for his final assignments, and the Flyers are playing the Rangers that night, the last of the season.

When that moment arrives, the curtain will fall on a career that began when Fraser joined the NHL's officials association in 1973. His first games came in the 1980-81 season. Saturday was game No. 1,829 (along with 261 playoff games).

He'll always be linked to this event in my eyes. Honestly, the 2002 call was borderline but it was better to lose to the Canes than to the Leafs in the conference finals, which we would have. He did us a huge favour, IMO.

I met him once in 2006 at the VIA station in Montreal. He was super friendly. I came up the stairs from the train, and noticed him and did a double-take. He could see I was looking at him and recognized him and he sort of smiled and said 'Yaah its me' and then we talked for a few minutes. Said he loves calling games in MTL.

Always liked him after that.

Does relieved applause count as an ovation?

Nothing against Fraser, I hate all zebras.

when you actually ref some hockey game you understand how much a tough job it is...

no way you understand that until you actually do it..its very hard and nobody ever give you a tap in the back when you make a good decision..but they will always be very quick to BOOO and yell at you when any decision is not going their side..

gotta respect those men who do the job..they have a lot of commitment..

also remember that the referees are the only one who never have home game...always on the run..

props to Kerry Fraser and he had a nice hair cut

We would have beaten the Leafs. They wouldn't have been able to score on us and would have taken us far too lightly. Not to mention, it would have been incredibly awesome to see Gilmour advance to the Stanley Cup Finals, in a habs jersey, by *****slapping the Leafs.

QFT... I was a referee for 1 year in hockey and an umpire for 3 years behind the plate and you just don't have a clue what kind of job it is...

I'd say overall I like Fraser as a ref. I hope he's able to say (in english and french) before the game on the PA that he wanted to officiate his last game in MTL. It will make the boobirds **** in their pants and allow everyone else to give him an ovation. Don't think that'll happen though.

cue..j in pants photo in 3...2...1...

Interesting. The Cyberpresse article has been modified as well.

"À noter que le match de ce soir sera le dernier de la carrière de l'arbitre Kerry Fraser à Montréal. Il était entendu qu'il prendrait sa retraite au terme de la présente saison."

I do not like it when a ref becomes part of the game. He does. As did McGoo.... and as Chris Lee does now.

But ...I will salute him for a long career.

Great pompadour. Useless in general like most refs. Good call bringing up the Alain Cote goal though!

He ain't no Chris Lee, of course...which is a good thing...

Same. Congrats on a long career, and I know it's a tough job, but some criticism is warranted. He liked the stage a little too much.
