Nasty incident on Danish prospect Jesper Jensen

Rødovre's talented D-man Jesper Jensen was hit to the head by Hvidovre's Kevin Leder in yesterday's final regular season game and suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and a concussion. He will definitely be out for the season, but it could end up being a lot worse. The brain hemorrhage reportedly affected a speech center in the brain and as a result he is having trouble speaking. It is at this point still way too early to speculate on his recovery. No penalty was assessed on the play.

Jensen was the top ranked Danish prospect for the 2010 NHL Entry draft - http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=257 , ranked as #91 European skater in the midterm rankings . I was hoping he would get drafted this summer - now I just hope he will make a full recovery...

A video of the incident (in Danish) can be found here:

WARNING: This is one of the nastiest hockey incidents I have ever seen and it is certainly not for the faint of heart.

UPDATE: Latest reports say he will make a full recovery. The brain hemorrhage is expected to dissipate on it's own without the need for surgery. He is still in hospital, but is speaking and wanted to make a return to the ice in time for the playoffs. Wisely, doctors have ruled this out completely.

Get well soon...

That's sad.

Hope the kid makes a full recovery. Keep us updated!

Btw, is the #18, Kaspar Jensen his brother?

I certainly wish him well and hope his career doesn't end on this note.

The latest reports have been largely positive, so I'm hoping the best. I'll keep you posted...

He had an outside chance on being on the Danish team for the World Championships in May in Germany, but I'll be happy if he returns to play next season.

He is to the best of my knowledge not related to #18 Kasper Jensen.

The disciplinary board have handed Leder a two-game suspension for the hit. A fair verdict IMHO, as the hit was to the head of Jensen, but did not look to be intentionally vicious.
