You might be confusing Simmonds with Subban?!?

Don;t think Luke Schenn would make the team, honestly he is not a high caliber defenceman as great as people expected

Turris on the team...bank on it

Won't comment on Laich but Peca shows he actually does pay attention.

If you would have said a year before the 2008 world juniors that Simmonds would make the team, everyone would have said "who the hell is Wayne Simmonds ?" He's already one of the best forecheckers in the game and in 4 years he will be the Brendan Morrow of 2014 team, only better.

The world juniors have led to Eberle being terribly overrated. He will never amount to much more than a 2nd line player. Duchene is better now (at a younger age) and will certainly be better in 4 years.

I don't think Eberle is overrated at all as that is what most oiler fans think he will become. That said his reputation for getting some timely goals on a big stage can't and wont be ignored. Again were argueing what could happen in 3 years so pretty pointless.

Canada's talent in the 1984 to 1990 birth years is tremendous. It's probably the best run for Canadian talent since those birth years in the late 50s and early 60s. Hockey Canada's brain trust will have a lot of very difficult decisions in picking the team. That is, of course, assuming that the best in the game are playing in Sochi.

The one question mark is goaltending. Canada's hit a bit of a dry spell in developing top-notch goalies in the last few years. (1984 was a great year for Canadian goalies; since then, it hasn't been as good). The flip side is that goaltending can be a very difficult position to evaluate, and a guy who isn't on anyone's radar now could be a candidate for the No. 1 job in 2014.

What's the point in guessing who's gonna be on a team 4 years from now?
4 years ago, Shawn Horcoff was a decent hockey player :p

For the US's sake, I hope Canada just goes for the most "skilled" players and leaves guys like Simmonds at home.

Oh my... Peca plays golf (and a member of) at the Park Club in Buffalo.... I like Peca but he is the last one to name Canadian players in the media.

meh, Peca named a team as part of a broadcast designed to stir opinions and get ratings.

Looked like he succeeded. It's impossible to predict who will deserve to be on a team 4 years away.

It's just scuttlebutt.

Nah, not going to get offended. You're welcome to your opinion but stats will show you he is a clutch performer who plays his best when it counts. That's pretty obvious from watching him play.

I like the addition of Wayne Simmonds. He's simply just not choosing the best scoring Canadians and he's trying to make an actual team.

But they won't, as evidenced by Brendan Morrow being on this team. Whatever "role" type players we bring are going to be guys who can skate, check, and score.

People forget how close Cam Ward was to making the squad this year. He hurt his back in the playoffs last season and hasn't been the same since, but he's coming back soon. Four years is a long time. He should be in the middle of his prime. Fleury and Ward will be neck in neck for the backup position if Luongo holds form.

Thankfully the team isn't being selected by the HF masses, many of who want to either build an entire team of goal scorers, or who insist on including players who haven't even proved they can produce at the NHL level yet (but they're ELITE PROSPECTS, which means on HF they're better than players who've already proven themselves).
