I agree in that I think Purcell will do okay in Tampa and may even earn a regular top 6 spot. But why should we care ? Let's face it, Purcell cannot play on a playoff team in the Western Conference. He's way too soft.

I think playing in the SE division will help Purcell out a lot since he won't have to worry about playing against teams as physical. Playing Florida/Carolina/Atlanta 18 times a year will definitely inflate Purcells numbers. But as a Kings fan, I could care less because he would never accomplish that in the West.

See ya Teddy!

Nice thing about Halpern is he does all the dirty work and he'll fit in on any line doing it. They stuck him with Vinny on the top line for a while and it got him back on track.

Halpern really does it all. I think you guys are really going to enjoy this guy in a Kings jersey.

I liked the signings today... added to our depth and didn't touch the key players already in the room. Should only help.

I thought it was a slight overpayment in the draft pick (thought it should have been a 4th)...but otherwise a good deal...

Very good pickup here. Halpern will be a big help to this team.

Good luck Teddy.

Didn't see this posted already, so apologies if it was: if Lombardi's choice was between getting Halpern for an (apparantly) very low-value prospect and a 3rd, versus Ray Whitney for a high-value prospect, a 2nd, and a 3-year extension, I'm very pleased he went with the former...

I dredged up some good pictures of our new players, give you all sense of how they play, those of you who don't already know.

i liked Purcell and i hope he can find his game someday, but this was a terrific deal... and it wasn't close to being an overpayment.

the two-end spectrum comparisons of Walker and Belanger aren't very good... Halpern is a much better hockey player than Walker, and Belanger... if anything, Washington is the one who slightly overpaid.

Yep, it's not an overpayment when you consider you're not only getting the player, but the completion of a quality line once he's slotted in there.

I thought this too. Lots of changes could backfire for them. Also, they moved out all the Michigan guys too. Not a good day to be from UM.

... Hahaha. Well done, Dean. A guy in essence just starting out for another worthless journeyman who is at his end. Fantastic. I'm so looking forward to the games in future years where Purcell lights us up. And for what??? Jeff Halpern as the final piece to a championship puzzle? That's cute.

Depth wins championships ... and depth isn't stockpiling worthless losers. I thought Lombardi got this out of his system with Willsie and Thornton and McCauley and Cloutier. Apparently not.
