Anyone know what number he might wear

wore 10 in juniors with Brampton
wore 16 on the isles
wore 23 in Hamilton
wore 14 in Edmonton and Columbus

My guess is 23 he will wear?

Apparently people on the Toronto board think Torres to the Leafs this summer is already a done deal.

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=745668

Could just be wishful thinking though.

I remember a year ago how the Detroit fans were certain that Ryan Miller was going to go to UFA and then sign with the Wings so that he could move back home to Michigan. Before he signed the extension with Buffalo.

Tico can hit.
I'm with you on those two points, CS - from what I saw during the Oilers run in 2006, Torres isn't just a capable hitter but he LIKES to ram people.

Having someone like that can only help support Kaleta and Gaustad since the other "physical" players like Rivet, Montador and Mair have stopped hitting people.

Could just be wishful thinking though..

The biggest move of the day involved Torres, who has 19 goals this season. The winger had hoped to remain a Blue Jacket, but would not accept a two-year contract extension worth $2 million per season.

"I'm disappointed I couldn't stay. It's been good here," said Torres, 28. "It just wouldn't be fair to other players if I took the deal. I just have to sit it out and see what happens. The deal just wasn't for me."

Torres has said all along that if he becomes a free agent after July 1, he would consider returning to Columbus. But he didn't say it with as much conviction today after the deal was done.

"We'll wait and see," Torres said.

Please lord lock him up quick.

He's closer to Toronto now AND he just saw Miller steal a silver.

Come on Darcy, please get it done.

sabretip posted an article saying he was open to resigning with columbus so maybe that one source is not true. Hopefully he does resign!

I like the new lines. Hopefully they can generate some chemistry together quickly. I'm curious to see how much he brings the physical side, since they need it desperately in their top 6.

He'll be wearing #17, same as Dominic Moore. Hopefully his game will be more like another #17, Mike Foligno.

Torres Joins Sabres, New Linemates:
Quote:
As a Toronto native, Torres has some relatives close by for the first time in quite a while, spending his last six years with the Oilers and Blue Jackets, respectively.

“Coming to Buffalo is probably going to cost me about $5,000 on Friday,” he laughed. “It’s good. I’ve been playing on some teams out West and this is a chance for some family and friends to come out and watch some games.”
Quote:
“I’ll be going hard up and down along my wall, try to finish some hits, score some goals along the way,” he said. “Only good things can come out of this organization. We just have to start putting some wins up.”

No way. Why would he buy a house as a UFA? Unless he's Steve Martin:
I know a lot of you people are sitting out there saying to yourselves, "Steve - you're a rambling guy. Is it tough for you, traveling from town to town, staying in different hotels every night, all alone, not with your friends?" Well, I've kind of worked that out now, I've got a whole new policy. Like, I came into New York early this morning, bought a house. Met a cute gal, got married. We had a little baby, another one on the way. Tomorrow: wake up, have a home-cooked meal, sell the house, get a divorce, and get on to the next town. So, this is what Steve is doing now.

Because he's a rich hockey player? Hey, Owens bought a house and wasn't in Buffalo much longer than Torres would be. Maybe Raffi likes to flip homes?

I like Torres, but you can make a clipshow to make Stafford look badass circa 2006-07.

Seriously, there's not anything more recent?

Torres is actually having his best season in terms of points per game. Just slightly above his 2005-2006 pace.

26 playoff games and he has 13 points. Not bad.

No, I know he's having a good year offensively - that was kind of my point. How about this year's goals? Hits? Fights? I mean most of the clipshow, at least, wasn't exactly highlight reel material (not that I expect that from him). Clips from 3-4 years ago doesn't really show me anything.

Well, to be fair, clipshows aren't going to do much for me anyway - I'm pretty sure I could make Stafford out to be a stud just with clips from this year....granted, most of it would be from the same game

I just don't get why the clips posted were from so long ago....especially considering the lack of the "WOW" factor in the 2nd clipshow.
