The Penguins are a good team. They are not THIS good. The Rangers cowered in front of them tonight. They left Henrik out to dry. He should pull the move by the goalie in Slap Shot. TRADE ME. RIGHT ****ing NOW!!

This game should prove what i've thought since watching the olympics, Lundqvist is the best goalie in the world.

The only thing I hate to see is Henrik Lundqvist lose a game like that. He should hold his head up high though. On his own he got a point in the standings for the Rangers. Points are big now and as each game passes picking up points in each game is vital.

There is nothing Tortorella could be happy about with this game other than Lundqvist. Sure, the team scored 4-goals but the compete level wasn't there.
Agreed.

The Penguins are just flat-out better than the Rangers. The Rangers' offense did a decent job of exploiting Fleury's weaknesses, but their mediocre defense got exposed. They can't rely on Lundqvist to bail them out like this, he's going to be exhausted.

We just got manhandled, but god dammit Torts needs to go...I'd be okay for a bit longer with Sather staying if he fired Torts. Pipedreams though...

The point isnt that the Rangers deserved to lose. The point is that they were in a position to win before the horrible call.

Getting outshot by an almost 4:1 margin is terrible, but they were a minute away from a shootout where anything can happen.

Just terrible.

don't knock Redden, wasn't his fault. In addition to it being a weak call, who could blame him for being exhausted at the end of this one...the entire game was played in our end. The d and Lunqvist must've been exhausted by OT. Our f'ing forwards watched a good game tonight. They had the best seats in the house. They sure as **** didn't play tonight. This group has no pride and they should all be embarrassed. Henrik deserves better. To just sit back and let the other team *****-slap you all over the ice...on your home ice...is just pathetic.

I just cant see this guy on the team next year. What a waste. I think we can all say he is the worst free agent signing in NYC sports history. More than Bobby Bonilla. More than Jerome James. More than Carl Pavano. More than Valeri Kamensky.
I don't even consider him a top-6. He is literally one of the worst positional defenseman I've seen play the game. He'll probably be a 2nd or 3rd pairing in Hartford. The guy is a scrub. He's a washed up old hasbeen and he needs to get the **** off the team, because right now all he's doing is stretching all the holes that the Rangers have.

That is seriously disgusting. He played with all his life and ability out there with absolutely no assistance. Completely abysmal performance from defense.

This game is a perfect example of why "anything can happen in the playoffs with a goalie like Lundqvist" is a terrible argument.

Lundqvist was unbelievable tonight and we still didn't win. This team has so many flaws and he can't do everything alone.

Yup. You can whine about Redden all you want but that 3rd period was as bad as any I've watched this season. The only reason this wasn't an 8-4 Pens win was because of Hank. I simply cannot understand how all the confidence and swagger and emotion of the 1st period just disappeared.

I agree that Redden stinks, that's no secret.
It was a case of what I would term a weak call on an even weaker player. Redden looks like a little old lady out there, all the time.
Rangers were supremely lucky to get a point.

What I don't get is why their game softened up so much.
Posters here saying how tired they looked. Wonder why the Penguins didn't look so tired.
Physically tired? nah, I don't think so. Something worse than that.

it wasnt so much the effort as it was a combination of decision making, and superb play by the Pens.

I didnt really see lazy play out there, i saw a lot of stupid play. passing on rushes across the ice with 2 men between you and the passer, despite having a clean shot to the net (read, Dubi...twice), passes up the middle, forwards collapsing down low leaving points wide open, which the Pens used to stretch us out....down low, back up top, down low, back up top...and we got exhausted. blind passes, icing when plays are available....just a lot of stupid effing things by the Rangers in front of Henrik coupled with a tremendously well played game by the Pens.

3 goals on 4 shots and straight to elimination led you to this conclusion?

Not really.

(1) Gaborik didn't play;

(2) They scored with a 4-on-3 in OT, which can't even happen in the playoffs (4-on-3 much easier to score than 5-on-4); and

(3) They've now gone to OT with the Pens twice in a row, both without Gabork.

Boston won. They now have sole possession of of 7th place. Rangers are tied with Atlanta and Montreal for 8th place. Montreal plays in a little while against San Jose, I think.

Redden played only 14 minutes tonight, he shouldn't be exhausted.

Staal, Rozy, and Girardi are probably exhausted though. They logged 28, 25, and 23 minutes respectively, and were forced to do so because this team carries 2 rookie defensemen and a pylon named Redden.
