Good period. Buffalo has 15 shots? Shows that most of them were low %. I think we controlled the play for more of the period, overall. But it's been close.
nice move by carcillo.... how was there no penalty on that though?
The guy got the puck first. Good no call. I've actually been impressed with the refs. There have been some ticky tacky calls that could have been made, but they've let them play.
I'd like to see an expanded OT which would hopefully reduce the amount of shootouts but as long as shootouts are part of the landscape I wouldn't be opposed to eliminating points for OT losses (not SO losses, just awarding a point in OT). I am not sure how that would change the flow of the game or how coaches would try to manipulate strategy.
I would be in favor of extending OT. I think if they got rid of OT loss points, teams would push a lot harder to get win at the time, or now that I think about it they might just sit back and be a lot more defensive, so they ensure making it to the SO and at least getting one point. Edit: I believe I've read others would say that had happened in the past?
Former Sabres tough guy Rob Ray pulled a good one on CSN’s Steve Coates. During the taping of Coatesey’s Corner, Ray talked about how he would tie up a player along the boards. Ray grabbed Coates unexpectedly and literally slammed him up side the glass inside the on-ice reporter’s box beside the player’s bench. Got a few laughs from the production crew – and Coates.
I always forget just how fast Carter skates. Man, that guy has some fleet feet.
Yeah, I forget it sometimes too.
I mentioned this on the Sabres board, but didn't Carter miss 1st place in the fastest skater competition in the last all-star game by like .1 seconds or something like that?

yeah.... makes sense. I agree though, I've had no complaints so far other than that.
The good ship NHL is indeed taking on water, I trust you know this...you're a smart man.
Most players aren't serial offenders the way Crosby (and guys like Carcillo) is.

Ah, not sure that's true at all. You would have to look up whether playing in junior tournaments counts as an international cap as far declaring team on the senior circuit, my guess is that it doesn't.
