I thought Ruff's comment of "don't the Slovakian's yell?" was very telling.
Telling of what?
The context there was that our D doesn't communicate enough.
He also said something similar to Lydman, and he was asking Myers and Butler to repeat the answers to his questions in a louder voice.
Ruff often stopped practice to implore his defensemen to be louder, at one point asking Andrej Sekera if the Slovakian Olympic team talked on the ice, reminding Toni Lydman that he should be louder than he perhaps was while playing with Finland, and making Tyler Myers and Chris Butler repeat answers to questions in a louder voice.
Butler energized the first unit when he came back from injury and got his feet under him. I think replacing him with Roy at the point "fixed" something that wasn't broke. Put Roy on the 2nd unit, where dangerous players are scarce (and especially now that his LW linemate is there as well).
Rivet I completely agree with. I said 2 months ago I didn't want to see him on the point. But I don't think Montador (or anyone else) is going to be any better. It's just a hole their going to have to deal with.
Monty gets his point shot off quicker and more accurate then any of our blueliners.
I'm going to guess its because he usually gets it on net often with a wrister.
It seems both Montador and Sekera look to get it on net quicker than the other regular culprits back there. I noticed Myers wristing it a bit more in the last game too -- that would be Patrick's work I expect. Anyone who racked up the PP points like Patrick should have the defenesmen's attention.
