http://blogs.mercurynews.com/sharks/...t-from-behind/

"Unmedical" evaluation by McLellan is that Nichol will be out 7-10 days. (Yes, someone will be recalled. Player not identified.)

As long as he's fine come playoff time.

Is Couture still injured?

He's back and playing. Believe it was cited in a DP post either during the Olympic break or right after it.

he will for sure get 1 game i can guarantee that, since he has a meeting with the nhl office today or tomorrow. they usually don't do the meetings unless they are going to suspend.

I missed the game and incident - did anyone stick up for Nichol? He strikes me as the type of guy who'd have gone and got back at Lapierre straight away if he did that to a teammate of his...

Part of the problem with retaliation was that the Sharks were down 1-2 at that point.

But I think the Sharks did hit the Habs a bit harder. And the game got even more chippy.

I'm kinda ok with that. I would have preferred longer, but was expecting less.

That last replay from the TSN feed, really shows how hard he hit him. It almost looks like he tried to disguise how hard he was hitting him to get away with it. What a punk.

for easy or any others who are on the in, for refs. what does these incidents do for the refs if they miss suspension worthy plays and mess up continuessly?

Everything I've read on the incident thus far has had the name "Nichols" in it at least once, lol. I believe 4 games is about right for this hit. Many Habs fans have been saying Lapierre is a pansy, hides behind refs, never drops the gloves, and has a history as a cheap player. Hearing that from his own team's fans solidifies everything we've been saying since this happened. Max, you're gonna be in some real trouble when the Sharks play Montreal again. Dan Boyle called the hit "very dirty", and the guys are surely fired up about this now. Someone should've pulled a Prince Fielder on Lapierre after the game.

I was hoping for more but that's my emotions speaking..... The Sharks actually responded better to that hit then I have ever seen them respond to a hit before. The entire team got fired up and took it to Montreal. It's like they were posessed. It was awesome to see that from our boys in Teal.

They need to hire refs that are younger and not vision impaired.

The trail ref should have had the call. The zone ref is supposed to follow the puck which would have taken the hit out of his line of sight. That call is made 9 out of 10 times, slam dunk call.

If it isn't a vet ref (over 16 years), it can affect his playoff selection. Both of these guys are bubble refs. When they hand out a suspension on an uncalled infraction, the two refs also have an uncomfortable conversation with Campbell or one their superiors. It is highly unlikely that either will miss the next call of this nature.

Unfortunately, these two are among the younger crowd. Walsh had been showing promise this year for not getting screened so much but . . . I have yet to figure out Lee.

The whole game was reffed horribly. The hit on Nichol was just the most dangerous of the stuff they missed. Most of the stuff they called was borderline ticky-tac stuff, most of the real flagrant stuff went uncalled. As far as I'm concerned, neither of these refs should have any consideration for any playoff game or playoff implication game. Hopefully they make a tape of that game titled, "how not to ref in the NHL".

Guess I should check the ref thread, but was anyone assigned to review this game?
