If the Rangers try to embrace too many Capitals, the NHL's best power play will killed them. They may get murdered by the conference leaders regardless, so tonight seems like a good time to give Alex Auld, the new backup goalie, a start so that Tortorella can come back with Lundqvist in the more winnable game at home Sunday versus Buffalo.

Buffalo played last night so they will be in New York watching the Rangers play in Washington tonight

I'd play Hank tonight and Auld tomorrow, but I see Hank playing both.

Brooksie just tweeted Auld is expected to get the start. Cerny tweeted Gabby is a game time decision since the Rangers are not skating this morning.

Good lord I'm hungover. No Saint Paddy's Day in Hoboken for me this year.

What's everyone up to today until game time?

I figured Auld would get the start. We aren't winning with Auld or Lundqvist in net so might as well have Lundqvist play tomorrow.

I don't think putting Auld in is an auto-loss. The guy is probably really eager to show what he's made of and is playing for a contract next year. I also think its better to save hank for tomorrow which is a more "winnable" game, though thats relative because both buffalo and washington have vastly better teams than us

I think you have to go with your A goalie tonight against the best team, what the f kinda message is that to send that ohhhh it's a tough game anyway, I'm kinda pissed. Auld is a good goalie too but you have to go with your starter.

Yeah I'm not thrilled giving Lundqvist a day off against Washington. Every player not named Auld is probably annoyed that they have to go into battle against the best team in the league with their best player sitting on the bench in a baseball cap.

Hopefully Auld being in net will get the rest of the team on their games for once. It's just not acceptable to be outshot in the manner we were a couple nights back - that can't happen again, whether it's Hank or Auld in net.

Well, Hank hasn't exactly fared well against Washington this season, although what goalie has?

I don't mind Auld starting today. Maybe Washington will ease of the gas a little bit if they know we have the back up starting.

This one is going to get ugly as usual no matter what probably. I will be following the box score since I probably can't watch the game. I'll be sure to knock back a few before checking though or I might pass out

You make an excellent point here, but against the caps?

Hopefully putting Auld in net will actually wake the team up and realize they have to play defense. I have a feeling that putting Auld in might actually make the team play better. But then again, the rest of the team could completely crap out and the Caps could just destroy us.
