they'll win or at least get points now and again.

If it helps with the team's development, it's not too bad.

And the fans that have paid money for the games actually deserve to see a win once in a while.

I also really liked Johnson tonight, played really well.

Might be a player worth re-signing.

I can't believe the Flames gave us Johnson AND a third for Staios... I was very impressed with his puck movement, positioning and physical play.
I've never really noticed him before.. if he can keep up that level he makes that #2 sweater look pretty darn good...

what a reversal it would be if the defence next year was the huge cap-saving area.

it could be the post-trade bump, but if he can be a nice consistent (and therefore pretty cheap) force on the backend, it'll go a long way.

Boogard deserves all critism. He is not a player. As for tencer taking shots at him behind his back well I guess that's what Boogard is known for isn't it? To me this was worse than the Lapierre thing yesterday.

Less than $1.5 million (per season) for two years as the kids get their feet wet? In a nano-second.....

If you win, win big.... If you lose, lose big - while planning for the future... And a top 2 pick is the only thing makes this season acceptable...

I am cheering for the Oilers to lose every game until they are guaranteed the top 2 picks. Only 30th place does that...

An exciting, competitive, hard hitting game with fights & lots of scoring opportunities. But definitely a game that does not cost us Hall or Seguin.

If the Oilers scre* this up, the season was a waste.....

Well, there's nothing to look down at, being in last place and all.

He looked fine in the last game against Chicago. If not for Dubnyk, it could have been 9-2, but he held his own. For a guy who's only played 10 or 11 NHL games ever, he looked good.

I don't understand why he wasn't rewarded with another start. I think the Oilers management has already made up their mind about which goalie we are going to sign.

On the hockey side of things, we went to the game last night. Whitney impressed me more than I had expected. He's big, plays smart, and strong enough to move bodies from in front of the net. He carries the puck with all kinds of confidence, never saw him panic once. Kind of reminds me of Pronger with the puck, it belongs to him until he's ready to pass. He doesn't appear to play tough, but his size fools you. He went right after Clutterbuck after a late hit on Potulny, and looked ready to fight. If anyone has a knock on his skating, they're wrong, very smooth powerful skater.

I like Ryan Jones, when he has the puck he seems to head straight for the net. Didn't see any big hits from him, but he might be hurting from Boogards cheap shot.

Johnson played very steady, if he keeps this up, he would be worth signing for low dollars.

JDD played great, this guy might actually be the real thing.

Peckham is a wrecking ball, gotta love his energy, and he's starting to play the puck much smarter.

Bottom line, the Lubo trade looks like at least an even move right now, and I think in a year people will love this Whitney guy.

Don't you think that's a bit of an odd thing for an internet poster like you and me to say?

I thought Johnson looked pretty solid. If he continues to move the puck like he did, I'd have no problem running him out on our third pairing next season with a guy like Peckham or Chorney.

I don't get upset when they lose but I HATE people who come on here and calling them idiots for winning.

Mgmt will call up youngsters, bench veterans.

But the team itself will NOT lose on purpose. Some people need to get that through their head!

they're idiots for winning if it costs them a top 3..there's no point in acting heroic now and squeezing out tight games...people will realize it when we're drafting emerson etem instead of hall or seguin..

I have no problem with Mgmt doing what they can to talk.

Players need to play their best at all times! IF ANY organization was telling their player to not play their best. I would not follow that team anymore. It is idiotic to suggest otherwise.

Secondly, if that was the case and it got out the Oilers would most likely lose any chance of winning the lottery!

It was one win. The Oilers aren't going to lose 30th with the backend we have right now.

The Toronto maple leafs could suck worse then us between now and the end of the season. This pushes us into 29th,then we lose the lottery and end up picking Cam Fowler and not Seguin or Hall.

Burke's reputation is on the line. I doubt the Leafs WANT to lose and frankly with their D and goaltending they are better than us for now. We have DD and JDD for Chrissakes! And our bottom-4 D is all young'ens.
