That hit by Lapierre was just brutal, I would have gone off like Ferraro also if I had a mic in my face.

Wow. And I'm guessing the refs didn't do anything?

Just saw Adam Foote's stats while looking for his mugshot for another thread.

7 points in 51 games? I know he's not an offensive Dman by any means, but $3 mil for that?

If theres a hockey god, it will be the Hawks vs the Caps in the finals.....that would be one hell of a offensive series!

The goaltending for both squads will probably let them down. I wouldn't be surprised to see both miss the Finals due to it.

Well, that happened fast! Second period for the Hawks looked like a CBJ third period.

What's wrong with Phoenix vs Buffalo?

Personally I'm hoping for Colorado vs Montreal.

He had his head down, that said, based on a few sport programs Iíve seen on TV research is proving how dangerous head shots can be even without a player getting knocked out. The NFL is the leading sport in this area and then the NHL. Long term affects from head hits even when short of a concussion have a chronic deleterious impact on brain function.

Changes to protect players are far from over imo, just sayin.

Well Carolina won today so that puts us down into 27th place. Edmonton and Toronto play today so they both have a chance to close the gap. New York Islanders are still 1 point behind us, but we play them soon so maybe if we lose to them we can at least wrap up 28th place and hope for either Toronto or Edmonton to go on a winning streak.

I'm a little confused on the bolded. Are you saying the NFL is the leading sport in amount of headshots or are you saying the NFL is the leading sport in headshot/concussion prevention and treatment?

If you're saying the former I would agree, if the latter I couldn't disagree more.

That said, headshots in the NBA are rare and in MLB they are even rarer.

The NFL for head hits and ex player concern, I'm not aware of any Official NFL research but they have changed some rules to help prevent concussions so I'd assume they have done some type of research.. The NHL would be second for head hits imo.

Harry Carson is a leading advocate of post retirement lingering concussion symptoms..

I would hope Cooke gets at least 8 games because he already got suspended this season for the exact same hit.

What gets me most about these "pick-off" hits is they all could be delivered to the body, but the player chooses to aim for the head. Cooke should see a significant suspension.

Hey guys, Ranger fan here... I come in piece. I just want to post in here saying that I have a fantasy GM game in the fantasy/mock draft part of HF. Go there and look for NYSportsfan6230's Official Fantasy Game and join up, we need 19 more spots and will be a lot of fun, Thanks.

Eh... His leadership, experience and ability to help their youth has taken his team pretty high, no? That's one thing we are completely missing, so I don't get the laughs about his contract. But yeah, if points are the only reason for contract negotiations, then that's absolutely horrible contract. Glad we have Commodore at almost $4 mil instead, all the way to '12-13.

If you wanted to sell the game in the U.S., you put the NHL's other biggest star, Crosby (since Ovechkin was this year's) or you put one of the stars of the U.S. team, Zach Parise or Ryan Miller.

Of course, it doesn't matter anyway, since the 2K series hasn't been really good since 2K5, but meanwhile EA's franchise keeps improving.

To be honest, 2K series improved much more than EA's game for this season. The problem for 2K was that the developer changed, this was sort of a rebuilding year and the game left a lot to be improved. But as far as the future improvement, I believe 2K will catch up EA, as the latter is more interested of creating glass-banging fans than concentrating on the gameplay. 2K is definitely on the right track.

And I can't be called 2K fanatic, because I still play NHL 2004. Thousands of games played and thousands to be played. Best hockey game ever, it keeps improving as it has an excellent fanbase (see Flyermania forums) and modding. I've played newer EA's games, but I get bored of them because every game played becomes way too predictable and dull.

No suspension for Matt Cooke. The NHL is a joke.

Seems as though the rules are the reason, next year will be different if shoulder hits to the head are illegal.

Pathetic. What's it gonna take? someone to die before they make headshots illegal?
