Because when he concentrates on the things he does well, he is a real force in this league.
The kid shouldn't be playing on the first line, but as a 2nd or 3rd line RW when he goes with his "meat and potatoes" game he is a very effective and taking the puck to the net, drawing penalties, and scoring the odd goal here and there. I would like to see him concentrate a little more on turnovers when he is in on the forecheck and not so much the big hits, but I think he has made real strides in that area of his game lately.
There isn't anything wrong with Dustin Brown. The Kings are getting their money's worth and then some.
In all fairness to Brown (and being one of his biggest critics, after all, he is the captain and one of the highest paid wingers on the team), he gets a lot of attention because he has consistently been a 20+ goal, 50+ point winger who leads the league in hits.
He has had his swings where he performs like the player we all expect him to be and he also can disappear for stretches of games. My issue with him is his consistency in performance. Not so much offensive numbers, but being out there creating havoc, scoring chances and driving the net.
I want to see him play just as he did in the Olympics when he was generating many scoring opportunities from his constant pressure and aggressive fore checking. He didn't put up flashy numbers in the Olympics but he played exceptionally well after the first two games (when he was invisible).
I still believe that he has it in him to be a 30 goal and 60 point winger. He is still adjusting to being a leader and one of the top players on the team.
This and the other 20 articles that came out about him this year
... You are mad about him getting "hype" over his off-ice contributions and donating to charity?
"It has not been a good day. I lost my glasses early this morning and I had to go buy a pair of 79 dollar reading glasses today. 79 bucks. You can literally get them at Costco, three-for-20." - Darryl Sutter's response to going up 2-0 in the series.
I agree with you King Doughty, he does suck at defense, not very high game IQ, passes when he should shoot, shoots when he should pass, doesn't stand up for teammates (the fight with Brouwer was the first time he's done that as a Captain) and he's one of the fruitiest divers in the game.
Liberal fan boys on this board will say things such as "Well what do you expect him to do", "but he tries really hard", "at least he hits people", "i bet he could beat you in hockey", blah blah blah blah.
