Alexandre Giroux an oiler?why

think he is one of the best players not in the nhl and if i was the GM say tambs of the oilers i would think about getting him in the offseason and this is why, hes got good size at 6'2 an oiler need a good set of hands as shown with 60 goals last year and 32 this year again an oiler need hes 28-29 years old in his prime years.he would be a cheap contract, a bonus and averages almost 1.5 points per game in the ahl over the last 2 years and would take some pressure off the young kids like eberle and mps what do u think?

I think every one of your posts has been about Giroux.

Having said that, I can't say it's a terrible idea.

He was on the list of UFAs that Edmonton tried to sign last summer like Linglet and Minard. He wanted more money than the AHL budget allowed for.

Nice to hear from someone that would know the Oilers DID pursue him. His name was thrown around last season, for obvious reasons.

Maybe they'll be willing to throw a bit more at him to help sell the team in Oklahoma City. Looking at his stats, he reminds me of Jason Krog. Insanely good in the AHL, but for whatever reason can't get it done in the NHL. I'm not sure I'd want him on the Oilers, but he could be an excellent guy to help Eberle along in the AHL.

remember he was with capitals and it would be tough to crack that lineup over the past few years and do believe he deserves another chance at the nhl. he hasnt got a good chance over the last 2 years to play in the nhl a change would be good for him

he is a career AHLer--using AHL stats to convince why a guy should be in the NHL will get you nowhere with us quickly

But the fact he can not stick with the team the has him now or the three other teams that have owned his rights in the past sets of alarms in my mind

I wonder if Katz will be enticed to bump up the budget in the AHL next season after the failure there this year. I know part of the problem is all their players being called up to Edmonton, but it seems to me that it would be much easier to "buy a team" in the AHL than it would be in the NHL.

What the hell is driving your agenda and why can't you formulate actual sentences or arguments as to why this would be a good pick up?

I'm suddenly soured on Giroux and it has nothing to do with him

you talk nothing about his skating, defensive ability, physical play and what he bring to the table. As addressed--ahl stats in most cases tell very little about a player who has spent almost ten years in that league.

First question--Why has he been unable to crack the nhl rosters of any of the other teams he has played. He has seen only spot duty

Second question--How is his skating?

Third--Physical play

fourth--How is he defensively--he has come from the Q so that usually means he only meets his goalie at photo ops

IF you want to sell us on him--give us more detail

most of us can hold up a debate about the pro's and cons of a player--in this case we just need to have the OP explain his position and why this player would help the oilers and how
