Seems to me that everybody is just speculating.

I don't know, if it was concussion related, it doesn't make sense.

He has remained with the team, continued to practice, conducted interviews with the media, and the coach reportedly indicated that he was already available to play but that he wanted to give him a few days rest.

Honestly, if he was experiencing concussion related symptoms, I am not sure how any of the above would be happening. The guy just missed a full season due to a concussion.

He's probably got a few black and blues and is taking it easy. He hasn't played in over a year before this after all.

Mueller, who missed all of last season with concussion issues, practiced today but isn't deemed 100 percent.

"Feeling great. Just, you know, getting everything back in the loop and waiting for my time to (get the) call," Mueller said after practice.

"Isn't deemed 100 percent" but Mueller says he feels great and is just waiting to get the call.

Sacco also told Pierre LeBrun that Mueller could have played against the Leafs but they're going to give him a couple more days.

I am very confused.

Not sure what you're confused about. He felt good to start the season too, but still looked like he was skating in glue, and never had a chance in any of the games or created anything. Not to mention he was, in 20 seconds of powerplay, as tired as he should be after 90 of hard defense.

If the team isn't desperate for him, which based on us winning without him, we're not(yet), then you might as well give him a few more days of practice and actually trying to get back to being an NHL talent again.

CONDITIONING. That is the main factor behind Mueller's benching. And yes, if the team is not in a desperate need for him in the line-up, may as well let him work on conditioning and rest up so he is not worn down.

Exactly. It's one thing not to have game timing down and things like that. That's not his biggest problem. His biggest problem is that he is majorly out of shape. He can fix conditioning in practice or even on his own just by working out on the ice.

That said, it looks like he'll probably be back shortly.

I am expecting him back in the line-up soon (within the next three games) and could see him "regularly" in the line-up by mid-November.

The article does not sound good, but quotes by Sacco and Mueller recently really, really, REALLY have me adamant that he is just needing to work on his conditioning as to not wear himself down too quickly. Getting back into game shape after not being able to rigorously work out for over 12 months has to be a daunting, exhausting, and frustrating task- one, I am sure, Mueller is up for the challenge of.

Still holding out hope Mueller will be back in the line-up by mid-November ready and raring to go.

Yeah... that sucks. I'm not expecting to see him back for a while. Particularly with he way he looked when he did play, too.

What I found interesting, is the quote from Gags. It seems the players don't even know what's wrong with Mueller ( atleast they say they don't know), so I doubt a reporter knows. They're just speculating, I'm 98% sure it's a conditioning problem with Mueller because of the fact that he's skating and taking interviews.

I think if nothing else it shows he is one bad head shot away from being completely done. I'll be very surprised if he plays again and for his sake I hope he considers the rest of this life vs. a very risky career.

It's a shame because I think Mueller found great chemistry with the Avs on his arrival but his health has just robbed him.

I agree. At first I thought it could be a conditioning issue but it definitely doesn't sound like it. Sacco said Mueller told him he wasn't feeling well after practice so he didn't skate this morning and he has already been ruled out for Saturday's game as well. They are also now saying he's day to day with a head injury and that obviously means concussion.

I'm not optimistic at all about his return.

I checked the Avalanche's pre-game notes and saw Mueller has finally (not in a good way, but is at least some clue as to what is going on) been listed as injured. He is "day-to-day" with a head injury.

Ah nuts. Wishing Mueller nothing but the best!

Yah I think Mules is done. I would be shocked if he played again this year. Sucks since hes a great talent and way too young to retire. I rewatched the games he did play this year and didnt see one significant hit he took so if hes feeling this way without being hit yet then thats very concerning.

If one of our other wingers get hurt, things are going to get dicey in a hurry.

I know I am rehashing THIS again but ...

Why on earth did the Avs not sign a decent top 6 forward (e.g. Ryder) or at least bring back Flash? It was obvious Mueller was shaky at best.

Yea, yea the rebuild with youth ... call me 'still' skeptical at this point.

I would take the risk and go with a "shaky" Mueller if my other choices were:

A. Leino for 4.5M over 6 years
B. Fleischmann for 4.5M over 4 years
C. Ryder for 3.5M over 2 years

Even guys like Upshall and Bergenheim got overpaid over the summer.

They probably thought they could throw Landeskog in the top six in case Mueller couldn't play but now they have to keep him on the third line because that line has played so well.

I also don't think anyone thought Hishon would still be out after his concussion. Him and his junior coach were doing interviews and they said he was fine but he still hasn't been cleared by the doctors.
