It's great to see him putting up points but the thing that got me most stoked was his defensive awareness the last couple games. If he can keep this kind of focus up long term, he could develop into a very complete player.

Think of it this way, Duchene decides to bolt the Avs cause he doesn't like it here in two years time and plays less than his full capability, would you still welcome him?

Either way, Wolski will eat us alive. Damn ExAvs always have to get a point against us.
why the hell would matt duchene not want to play with the avs in 2 years? I'm pretty sure the kid would be stocked to play out his career there even

but yeah, mueller has been pretty sick so far, i want to see more goals though!

Yeah, like Kane and Hossa. Very similar stickhandling styles.

Yeah. I didn't notice his defensive awareness until last night, but I was pretty stoked when I did. Playing on a line with Hejduk should only help that. Hejduk is one of the most underrated forwards defensively.

He just used Duchene as a comparison, a high draftee with loads of offensive potential. It wasn't meant to be taken literally.

Heh, I was laughed at when I said that Mueller's defence has been pretty good since he's arrived. Now people are finally seeing it too. He's not amazing, but he's at least on par with what Wolski gave us defensively, maybe even better.

Agreed, Hejduk is very responsible, and hopefully that will rub off on both Mueller and Duchene

Let's hope Blake's cheap shot (shame on you Rob) won't keep him out for any games.

I continue to be impressed by the guy's hustle on the backcheck. I was expecting a guy with his reputation in Phoenix to float Arnason-style when the opposition is going the other way. That's not the case. Mind you I think his defensive zone play could use some work, but at the very least this guy is not one-dimensional.

Agreed. His rep was so bad in Phoenix I think many of us are still wanting a bigger sample to judge but so far Peter looks like a guy you could label a "franchise player." I think a PPG pace is reasonable if he can keep this level of effort up and really he seems capable of being a 100pt player. All that along with a reasonable defensive effort on most nights and a reasonable hustle quotient. Nobody will mistake him for Yip but I personally like his focus on the offensive dimension first and foremost. I personally think Mueller-Duchene-Hejduk is our first line next year and Galiardi-Stastny-Stewart becomes line two. It fits much better overall.

don't forget about Jones there (probably taking Galiardi's place), plus Galiardi and O'Reilly on the same line makes me happy

Concussion... out indefinitely. Blake probably won't even get a slap on the wrist for it, being Blake and all.

I love how popular Mueller is becoming among more casual fans. When he scores goals now at the Pepsi Center they play this soundbyte from Ferris Bueller's Day Off that sounds a lot like Mueller. It is sweet!

That's hilarious! Every time I hear his name I think of that teacher saying "Bueller... Bueller... Bueller..." I never knew they actually did that when he scores though. Well, assuming that's the part of the movie you're talking about?

What do u guys think Mueller gets resigned for?

He's a RFA --- i'm guessing he resigns for 2.5mil a year over 3 years

3 weeks ago, it would be 1.1 million for 3 years. Now, I guess 2.2-2.5 for 3 years.

my thoughts exactly.....he's been amazing to watch with Duchene....hopefully his concussion is a one time thing....gotta hate when those dirty hits turn into injuries like that.

They should sign him for 1yr @ 2-2.5 million and if all goes well, sign him long term after the season.

He'll probably cost more this way but atleast we'll know what he can do in a full season with the Avs.

Agree. One year deal, then he can take Hejduk's place in the pay scale after next season, rumored to be Hejduk's last.

Do you guys think that Mueller 'can be' the real deal? or is he just benifitting from playing top line minutes with Duchene?
