Dagenais's future???

Officially bumped from the 2nd line and off the roster for two games in a row, does he have any future with us anymore?
I would say that he has to really start getting in shape over the summer and come rejuvenated to camp. I think his contract ends at the end of the season, and I would expect him to either get a tryout but more likely to get a two-way conditional contract. But if he doesn't playing like a 6'4 powerforward who wants to win, I dont think he'll have a future with this club at any level.

Well, weren't we winning with him in the lineup?

I don't mean to be too superstitious or anything, but Stefan Latulippe posted an interesting thought. We are 0-3 with Sundstrom in the lineup. Now I have nothing against Sudnstrom at all, but I guess if the hockey Gods are against him playing for us this round, then maybe we should try Dackell out instead of him?

Lafleur says that Dagenais is probably done with this club. He was brought here to help Ribeiro find his game and break out, which Michael certainly did, but now Ribs will have to go to step 2, and learn how to play at an elite level, or at least a level similar to this years without a best friend in the lineup. So Dagenais is probably not in the teams future plans. Unless he has 4 straight 5 goal games and leads us to victory over Tampa, as Lafleur originally predicted in the legendary 'zap of prophesy.'

I think "C'est Terminer" pour DAGENAIS A Montreal like Michel Bergeron would say

With Hossa,Kostsitsyn,Plekanec,Higgins and Perezhogin banging on the club's door.. it would be very tough for him to get a spot on the team.

Engl: If Dagenais improves i.e. learns to skate and play defense he will stay. But he will have a lot of competition with Hossa, because Hossa knows it's probably his last chance with the team, and I think(hope) that will motivate him.

I think with a lot of young talent on the verge of cracking the line-up next year Dagenais has to go, hopefully we can trade him for a pick or sumthin.

if your team is loaded with complete players combining size, speed and tenacity, you can afford specialists. The habs aren't that team. Don't donplay his contribution, though, you win by putting the puck in the net. problem is that his play is so poor that it's hard to wait for the next hot streak.

Personally i think youll see him get signed to a one-year contract over the summer, he will keep his place in the line-up untill someone can take-over, i.e a perezhogin, higgins or hossa... if those three players can't step it up next year, gainey might look bad, as he wont have a goal scorer on the second line... and less nhl depth on the team... i would be a mistake not to sign him as a filler player at least for the first quarter of the season to help fill gaps that might occur in the line-up.

Also, im sure we can resign him for a very cheap price... he not in any position to ask for something we cant afford

I have a hard time seeing Gainey finding a spot for him in this lineup when other guys like Perezhogin, Higgins, Hossa and Plekanec could all step in and gain the needed experience they will need.

Dagenais is not a Gainey type of player. He's a pylon that floats and glides all night long, having no idea how to be proactive and help his teammates without the puck. Unless we're desperately craving for goals again (which could happen if we don't resign Kovalev), I don't see him in a Habs uniform next year. Call it wishful thinking, but I cannot find any logical way of explaining a prolonged stay in Montreal for this big useless softy.

Dagenais is a one-trick pony at best, and even goalscoring wise he's not *proven*. That would require a few years of 20+ goals or so...

If you want a legitimate second line, you need a legitimate 2nd liner, someone with some experience, grit and talent -- more than Dagenais has for certain.

If you assume Ribiero and Ryder make the 2nd line next year (and nothing is a given ever in this game really) then you need another winger. Ideally, if you want a *real* 2nd line that's more threatening than it was this year (and certainly in the playoffs), you need someone more talented than either, or at least more successful, that fits in with the right chemistry and purpose.

I think experience does come through in a lot of cases in the playoffs (not always necessarily but it can't hurt), and Ribiero and Ryder lack it. They're gaining some now, but I'd like to see a more experienced, stronger, aggressive 2nd liner, with decent hands. Hard to find these days...

If Dagenais is still on the team, I don't think you have a legitimate 2nd line.

And Bulis *has* to be on the 3rd line. Not everyone has to score 20+ goals a year and be a scorer. Bulis can be effective in a specific role, and that's NOT on the 1st line. He doesn't have the offensive wherewithal and hands.

So again it comes to shoring up the 2nd line with a legitimate winger.

Dagenais had a good ride, but he never had a future in Montreal.

What about a juicy 1 way 500 000$ contract for 1 year? You give him a chance in the training camp. If he do well, he could play 30-40 games and score a couple of goals while being cheap. Une police d'assurance qu'on dit en français. (Insurance policy :lol )

Pierre had a golden opportunity handed to him on a siver platter. Despite early success his physical weakness has jumped out.

His biggest enemy is time. As time goes by, our young prospects will take more place and Pierre will have less place.

I think HABS management will give him another chance next year but will not be as patient this time. He better work his *** off this summer, if he wishes to stick with the habs.

Hitting the opponent with his rear-end instead of his shoulder won't get you rave reviews.
