Why is right. How does this help either team? A swap of prospects, a swap of goons (both AHLers now), and Burish and Sullivan are both upcoming UFAs.

Bolsters Dallas' top 6? Bolsters Pittsburgh's bottom 6?

Sure, might as well.

It's basically Sullivan for Burish. None of those other guys matter for either side I don't think. I guess if the Stars were in playoff contention by the deadline it will add a little scoring depth. *shrug* And it has no effect on either team beyond this season....so why not?

Okay here is my reasoning.

1. Burish/Sullivan - Steve Sullivan is playing on the Pens' 3rd line right now with Richard Park and Matt Cooke. In my opinion, he is not a bottom 6 forward. Adam Burish is an ideal bottom 6 forward and I read a Stars fan say Adam Burish is possible trade bait for the Stars. The Pens give a veteran, playmaking LW to Dallas, in exchange for a bottom 6 winger.

2. Godard/MacIntyre - Eric Godard was a fan favorite in Pittsburgh and he was well respected inside the Penguins locker room. He was a good team player who stuck up for his teammates. Right now, he is in the AHL. Steve MacIntyre is the best fighter in the NHL, just can't find a challenger in the Eastern Conference, he was sent down to get ice time during the All Star Break but will probably be called up next week.

3. Neal/Pierro-Zabotel - I proposed this trade awhile back and it's a minor trade so nobody really cares. The purpose is to bring James Neal's brother to the Penguins organization and to send Pierro-Zabotel somewhere else.

I don't want Michael Neal on Geno's line.

I have no opinion on Godard, haven't seen him play. But he's been a healthy scratch in about half the games in the AHL.

I refrained from being the first responder because I figured I was missing something here. Glad I wasn't the only one who was confused.

For all Sullivan's flaws he has helped tremendously with our zone entry on the PP.

Is CPZ even Pen's property now? I thought we cut ties to him.

You can't just 'cut ties' with a players rights like in football. Pierro-Zabotel still has a contract.

The problem with this trade is that I want none of Eric Godard's one-way deal next year.

Like I said, with the role that Sullivan is playing on the Pens right now, Burish would be a better fit. I like Sullivan, but I think he plays better on Malkin's LW, not Park's.

If we went with the Sullivan-Malkin-Neal line then I wouldn't want to trade Sullivan, he makes our PP better and he's a good locker room guy. But Steve Sullivan as a 3rd line winger with Cooke and Park? I think Burish would be an upgrade in that area. The Pens bottom 6 is built on defense and grit, which of those two does Sullivan bring to the team?

Kind of pointless, but I'd easily do it. Sullivan isn't a long term answer, but it'd be nice to see Benn with a playmaker at least a bit this season. And him being a LW is even better.

Let's face it, Burish isn't that important to this organization. He's pretty much a Ott-lite, so losing him, especially for Sullivan, is fine.

Godard hasn't done a thing. With MacIntyre, we could at least have someone to rough it up in games against teams like LA, Boston, etc.

Neal and CPZ is kind of a mute point. We have no need for Neal, and I think he'd be quite happy to be back with his brother.

hahahahahha CPZ hahahaha

I believe we still do have his rights we just put him on loan to someone else because his wife thought he was the next Gretzky and not getting enough of a shot and made that opinion known publicly through twitter

I've seen this probably 10 or so times in the last week on this board...It's not mute point. Moot point. Sorry, just a pet peeve.
