Honestly, I wouldn't mind Mara or Bergeron in place of O'Byrne right now, O'Byrne is playing horribly.

I snipped it from this post.

I hope they keep Pyatt up when Cammy comes back.

Oh.. darn for the life of me I couldn't figure out how the defense got into play here and then I tried to find a 2 lines long post by that username thought I was in the wrong thread. So anyway, here's my original response:

To me O'Byrne is still somewhat of a prospect... he hasn't played regularly in the NHL until this season. Let him learn, Markov is the right man for that. But to me there is a different motivation on pairing him with Markov = added toughness for 15-20 minutes a game. O'Byrne fights regularly now and this is good, he's defining himself more as this is what he should be doing. Guy's a giant he should just take boxing lessons in the offseason because he can do a lot better. He's really not afraid to drop'em.

I wouldn't touch Moen-Lapierre-Moore, Moen and Lapierre are playing much better since they were put on his line. I like those 3 matched up with #1 lines, they are good defensively and a pain to play against. Stick SK with Metro and Darche.

Yah even though we can consider that 4th line a 3B line, Skost has proven to be more useful on bottom 6 pairings.

The Montreal Canadiens Facebook account (very reliable) reports that both Cammalleri and Bergeron skated this morning!

Great news.

O'byrne looked bad on one of the goals Sunday, but in general I find he's playing well. Not sure where you see this "horrible" play. He brings an element of physicality plus he is a natural RH shot, he has definitely not looked overmatched with Markov. Andrei has not had to constantly bail him out like with Komisarek late last year.

Well theres things that i like about Obyrne and things that i just cant stand about him. I like his size and skating, ive never seen him get beat by any speedy winger, i also like that he doesnt hesitate to jump on the play in the offensive zone and along the the boards, also when he wants to, he can nail people and separate them from the puck.

However, hes still struggling with his decision making with the puck in his zone. he forces his passes, takes often too long to make a play when wingers are open, he tends to take penalties because he doesnt use his stick properly on one on one battles. The potential is there but i dont think he should be playing top minutes with Markov right away IMO. Markov should be tired of always carriying his partners (Komisarek and now OByrne). I cant wait to see him paired with Subban in the future, it will be something else...

When possible he lets Markov handle the puck on breakouts. One of the problems about Hab breakouts in general is that the wingers play so deep that it's easy for the d-men to pinch down on them.

If Savage ever did it which I dont know if he did, it was probably done in the first two months of the season because as we all remember after November he turned into the invisible man

RDS has the "full" story:

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/295041.html

Cammalleri's 2nd time on skates since injury. Habs were hoping for a return on March 20vs. the Leafs, but no update on if that's a good target.

Bergeron's 5th time skating since injury, no date for return set yet.

This is not true this year, the forwards are always close to the puck carrier in JM's system. Often when OByrne has the puck, you can see the wingers open but he often holds the puck too long because hes hesitating too much. The breakouts this year have been much better than the past years IMO.

Our 2nd and 5th best scorers (Cammalleri… and Bergeron!) are getting closer!

Btw... our PP is not the same without Bergeron:
The Power Play and Marc-André Bergeron

He keeps the opposing teams honest.

It's bad enough that it takes our guys an eternity to set up the PP, but defenders also know we have no real big shot from the point without Bergeron.

I was against re-signing him in the off-season both because I think he'll want too much and I was hoping Spacek would pick up his offensive game... Now I'm not so sure. He's a dynamic PP player and that's an important part of today's game.

Hopefully, but he doesn't really bring the same thing as Bergeron.

Maybe if he does well enough we can afford to replace one of the bigger contracts with him and it won't be an issue carrying a PP specialist like Bergeron.

Metropolit is too slow for defensive duties.

Any hope he'll be back next week on Tuesday for the Rangers game? I'm going, I'd love to see him.
