If anyone? Obviously this is if the Hurricanes don't make it. I'm just a curious opposing fan.

It usually ends up that I cheer for the team still playing that I dislike the least... If I was getting my choice, I'd go in order:

Hawks
Sharks
Sens

I'd like to see the Caps in the East, for one because I like to see the Southeast win again, and also to see our ex-Canes do well. Even though they are our divisional rivals, and Ovenchicken has a bad habit of causing injury to Tim Gleason, I still kind of like the Caps for some reason.

In the West either one of San Jose or Chicago. Anybody but Detroit would be good though.

Devils in the East - my team growing up, raise your hand if you miss the xmas tree jerseys

And sorry Canadian bretheren.... I root against every Canadian team, though mostly because the media/bloggers up north have such disdain "non-traditional" hockey markets acting as if we are stealing what is rightfully theirs.

I agree with the second part, but a Canes fan...rooting for the Devils?

In the west...Redwings (if they make it into the playoffs). If not, then the Kings.
In the east....tough one as I really don't like any of those teams. I guess I'd pull for Ottawa as I dislike them the least.

I'd root for about 5 teams in the west before I rooted for someone in the east though.

Well its not like I had the option of rooting for the Canes growing up........And i had family in NJ at the time. I grew up in Ohio so there was no local team either

Same here. I had a lot of family from Pittsburgh, so even though there's the whole Cleveland-Pittsburgh rivalry (mainly from Browns vs. Steelers), the Pens have been sort of a fallback team for me. Even though they knocked the Canes out last year I cheered for them to win it all. Though I also tend to cheer for underdogs and teams that haven't won before/recently. So unless it's against a team I don't like I won't be cheering hard for them at all.

Used to follow the Caps before the Canes came to town since they were the closest team and could watch the games on TV, but being in-division rivals has turned me against them. Not that I wouldn't mind a SE team winning it all again, but I won't be cheering for them.

I'm kind of in on the not cheering for Canadian teams or certain other "traditional" markets that constantly berate us and the Canes. Nothing against my Canadian friends, but the bad apples have gotten very old over the years. That eliminates a good number of teams right there.

I guess the Hawks? Got family connections to Chicago, so probably will go for them.

Probably will cheer or follow Nashville and Phoenix, too. Partly because of the "traditional" stuff above, but also Nashville because I do watch their games from time to time when they show the re-runs on FSS.

Carolina.

I'll root for Canes players and whoever plays the devils. As well as the Blackhawks and Sharks. Perhaps Washington, but I have trouble bringing myself to root for a divisional foe. I did root for Atlanta in 2007 though, that turned out well.
