I have to give your boys credit for their comments to the media regarding Cooke's hit on Savard. They both seemed like they really wanted to let the league know they made a mistake. Respect!

Well it's kind of a personal issue for Vinny, given his history with Cooke.

Quote:
It was Cooke who ended Lecavalier's 2007-08 season with a check that dislocated Lecavalier's shoulder that needed surgery. Cooke then turtled the next season when Lecavalier tried to fight him.
Quote:
"It makes me sick," Lecavalier said of the hit. "That's the type of player he is. He runs around and he hits guys when they are in a vulnerable position. I hope the league does something about it. If they don't, it's going to be a big mistake, especially protecting a guy like him who has previous times hit guys dirty. I think they should suspend him more than one game."

Although it's common sense that Cooke should have been suspended for that hit.

I have to agree with this thread. The league has proven with this action, that they will never be serious about eliminating headshots in this sport. The worst part is, they have actually encouraged headshots. Just prior to the playoffs, this was a very poor decision to make.

Cooke clearly raised his arm to make contact with the head. This was a clear suspension. The league like always, has dropped the ball.

I hope Cooke gets throttled in every single game he plays for now on.

I almost wish Downie would be Downie for a night when we play Pittsburgh.
