NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles

Sorry, I bet this is the 100th thread about this, but if you want in, how do you go about doing it?

There's been no announcement about tickets as of yet. When there is, we'll post the info in a sticky here.

Not to sound flippant, but after 8 years of no playoffs, the draft is the last thing any of us are thinking about at the moment.

When there is news, we'll post it.

It's nice to work in a funky word every now and then.

Sound advice. I can't imagine the event will be sold out.

Season ticket renewals by March 22 include tickets to the draft.

So.... Go get some damn season seats!

It's less than paying for WoW in the end... I think.

What can people tell me about the Ritz Milner? The rate ($84/night) was significantly better than anything else near the Staples Center, but the reviews range from decent as a base camp (which I intend to use it for) to terrible.

Is there something better around that's not full already?

I'll be there...hopefully. I'm 19 so if any you guys are around my age and want to kick it before or after the draft just PM me. I might bring some stuff to make the draft extra fun.

The thing I hate about season ticket holder automatically getting tickets is that many ofthem won't/can't go. These "free" tickets will be sold on line or worse there will be thousands of empty seats.

What infinitely more important thing would we have to do on that day other than sit at the draft? Why not?

The JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton are right across the street from Staples Center but they are both sold out that weekend.

There are a bunch of hotels downtown that are a short drive away. The Westin Bonaventure is $149 a night during the dates of the draft - very nice hotel.

Also the Red line and the Blue line run real close to Staples Center. I don't know the cost but it is cheaper than parking will be and if you find a hotel on the route the price may be cheaper. Stay out of Compton

In all the years of watching the draft, I thought it was free to attend. I really hope AEG doesn't decide to charge for it.

Attending the Draft has always been free. However, when they gave free tickets to season ticket holders last year, they were selling for 150.00 or more on ebay and stub hub. I don't think that the LA crowd will be that bad but if LA does something like win the Cup it could get crazy.
The Kings are looking at doing a Hockey Fest at the same time. They may include a "free" ticket to the draft if you buy a ticket to hockey fest. That is something I would do. I like the Hockey Fest last year and with the draft at the same time the Kings could get some really great speakers. The draft is really boring one the first 5 teams draft and having other things to do may make it a fun event.

I haven't looked online for availability but as far as the Ritz Milner goes, I can't really comment on the rooms since I've never been in one but I go to the bar there occasionally and it is a dive so I'd be cautious. I'll stay in a Motel 6 so if that was the cheapest and cost was my main concern, I'd just go for it. That is me though.

As far as the area goes, the Standard is very trendy hotel up the street but might be a bit pricey and might not be your thing. The O Hotel is a brand new hotel right next to the Ritz Milner. The Wilshire Grand is a pretty nice place and usually the cheapest price of the nicer hotels. The Westin-Bonaventure is fairly nice. There is a Holiday Inn about 2 blocks north of Staples. There is a Marriot about 7 or 8 blocks north of Staples on Figueroa. I think there is Sheraton up there too. The Millenium Biltmore is probably the nicest hotel in Downtown.

a room at the Standard is around $150 a night, or roughly around the same as the Bonaventure.
