well toronto does need a legit #1 contender... but Tsujimoto IMO would go way too high. His GAA is brutal... it's like he's not even there!

According to Adrian Dater's twitter before Mueller deal on deadline day:

"Avs real interested in Boyes. Problem is, Blues don't see to have much interest in just a Wolski and/or Liles"

Kaberle times 10

He was almost in Tampa, Vancouver and Philli were all rumored to have been close in the past. Flyers was obviously the best deal and I wish he would have then but oh well..

Sundin to Montreal is another

Kubina to SJ

Tucker and McCabe were also rumored to be traded and weren't because of the NTC's.

There was a deal last year with Toronto that was agreed upon by both teams (smaller deal I believe) but it was submitted 2 minutes after the deadline

Tambellini had a deal that would have sent Moreau to a contender in the east, but confused his photocopier for a fax machine and ended up making 12,027,852,995 copies of the trade details. By the time he realized it wasn't the fax machine, it was yesterday.

Yeh, right Vancouver nixed a Hodgson for Kaberle deal. Sure.
You fans in Vancouver have such hate on for Toronto. Why? you are about 3000 miles apart. Do people in Vancouver have that much of an inferiority complex that you can't stand anything form Toronto. Or do you need to fire your GM if he nixed the trade. Kaberle could have vetoed any alleged deal. Well we didn't get him either.

Wasn't there something like Kaberle + Steen + 1st for Pronger, but JFJ didn't want to give up Steen in the deal, thinking he had too much potential?

This is just pure speculation on my part but I would have to think Tambellini would have got some interest in Mike Comrie from teams (super cheap UFA to be who is a good PP specialist). I can only imagine his opinion of Comrie's value and what other teams thought was worth giving up didn't mesh. And now we have a super cheap PP specialist for 14 more games rather than a mid rd draft pick.

My guess: Tambo wanted a 3rd, teams offered a 5th. Played chicken and lost.

I heard there was another Steen + for Philly, at 2nd overall who took JVR.

Then again, without Steen we'd never have gotten the almighty Lee Stempniak... who was later traded for a 4th and a 7th

I don't have Kaberle. He plays for the Leafs. I am not a Leafs fan I am a Bruins fan. Again back to the Vancouver inferiority complex vis a vis Toronto. It is something I noticed on the boards. Yes, I would like Kaberle on my team though.

Inferiority complex?

We feel inferior to a team that has had some of the NHL's worst management in the past decade, the biggest trade blunders in recent memory and hasnt made the playoffs in 8 years? All while competing for a top-2 pick that they wont get to use?

Right.

Incorrect. From the rumours I've heard, Nashville wanted Hodgson but Gillis refused to move him. Which I agree with.

while on the subject
I remember hearing a story many years ago that Bruins had a deal for Freddie Modin lined up but it stuck in the fax machine.
It was way back when he was with the Toronto or Tampa

I don't have a link but I think Burke said it a few months after the draft.
From what i remember, RJ Umberger was part of the proposed trade...Local boy to create some local buzz. That said, it was a proposed trade - no idea on how close it was to materialzing.

I don't hate Toronto at all. Can people take statements as they are without turning this into a psychological profiling?

I wouldn't be happy if Gillis traded Hodgson for Kaberle. Kaberle, with only one year left, is a stop gap solution and doesn't help us in adding youth to our blueline. We already have older guys like Salo and Mitchell for experience; to add Kaberle at the cost of a decent blue chip prospect gets us nowhere.
