Both Victoriaville and Drummondville get their first wins of the semi-final series. Victoriaville had a 5-0 lead at one point on Saint John and held on for a 6-3 win. Drummondville played a tight, low scoring game where they became victorious in overtime with a 2-1 win over Moncton. This definitely makes things interesting in both series, but it will still be difficult for either of them to advance to the finals.

I've maintained through-out that these are the top 4 teams in the league. It'll tough for any of them. 1 more win by either Victo or Drummonville and we have tie series.
Nobody's gonna role over and play dead.

Moncton inches closer to closing out their series after shutting out Drummondville 4-0tonight. Gabriel Bourque notched two goals to help his team get the win. The series, along with the Victoriaville vs. Saint John series, resumes on Friday night.

1 win to go for the Cats.
But a team with Couturier, Dumont, Allen and DiDo (even if he was more of liability last night.......temper, temper }
4 wins is still gonna be a battle

From a Volts fan point of view, this is just impossible. Players are just unable to score against Moncton. I do not believe in miracle, I was so down yesterday after both Volts and Habs defeat. My parents manage to find tickets for friday night game, I will not go, it is really shameful to be eliminated in 5Wildcats are heading to the Memorial Cup IMO.

The wildcats are serious contenders if not favorites to win the M cup

That's nice to know but we still gotta win this series and the next against good teams and there's still 3 damn good teams playing in the O and 4 in the DUB that will contest that favourite tag.
As much as I'm looking forward to an all NB Final and the 1st Maritime Mem Cup.

How is the fav tag appropriate? Cats finished the regular season ranked 7th in Canada
Barrie, Saint John, Windsor, Calgary, Drummondville and Brandon ranked higher?

I might get flamed by some WHL lurkers, but this winter I went down to Edmonton to watch the Oil Kings play the Wheat Kings at Rexall.

Now I know its only one game but i was very unimpressed with the Brandon goalie. Brandon is similar to Windsor in the way the team is built. Brandon has Schenn, Glennie, Calvert, Rajala. Windsor has Hall, Henrique, Nemisz, Kassian, but they both lack goaltending. We all know that goaltending 9/10 is the biggest factor in a playoff series.

It's funny that both Windsor and Brandon are down 3-1 in their respective series playing two teams with great goaltending (Kitchener & Calgary)

I think this is where most Q teams have the edge. I think all 4 Q teams a good to great goaltending and on top of that Saint John and Moncton seem to be very well balanced in all areas.

Rio stole this game for the Cats.
Out shot 37-19 after the Volts even threw the kitchen sink at the Cats. Congrats Drummondville on a great season.
SJ is 1 win away from an all NB Final, It'll be WILD we'll SEA (pun intended )

The Cats have tamed an eagle, slayed a huskie and beat and voltiger

while

The Dogs have stopped a rocket, won the olympics and are close to mauling a tiger.

Who will come out on top? Cats vs Dogs!

I think either team will be hard to beat at the Memorial Cup. They are both strong and deep at all positions and should match well against the OHL and two WHL teams. Both teams can play a strong defensive game, which is going to be key in the tournament. Last year I thought that was the biggest weakness with Drummondville and Rimouski. Cousineau already has Memorial Cup experience from last year and Riopel is arguably the best netminder in the entire CHL. Any reason to think Moncton could have trouble putting the puck in the net though? They do get strong contributions from their defense, which will be helpful. I think Saint John will be fine in the scoring department if they do advance. Anyways, I think the QMJHL has a good chance of having a team go to the finals this year. But things can change on a dime in these short tournaments, where all four teams are fairly evenly matched.

Victoriaville makes things interesting with a 4-2 victory over Saint John tonight. This closes the series gap to 3-2 in favor of Saint John, where the series heads back for the final two games. Anyone know why Brandon Hynes only has two points in his twelve playoff games so far? I heard he was a healthy scratch at one point, but I'm surprised to see his numbers drop so far in the post season.

As far as the Deschamp injury, he's listed day-to-day with a swollen ankle.

Saint John finishes off Victoriaville in impressive fashion with a big 7-1 victory. The playoffs now shift to New Brunswick for a Saint John vs. Moncton final. I know a lot of people on these boards are excited to see these two powerhouses compete for a championship and a bid in the Memorial Cup.

Statistical leaders through the first three rounds:

Points: Devos, Kirkpatrick (24)

Goals: Bourque, Dumont, Huberdeau (11)

Assists: Petersen (18)

Plus/Minus: Despres (+19)

PIM: Bergeron (37)

GAA: Tardif (1.87)

Save Percentage: Riopel (0.939)

Wins: Cousineau, Riopel (12)
