A regulation win against the Yotes would give us each 5 points against each other ... or as I said last night "tie us in points against each other" ... that is only the 3rd tiebreak during the season, the lesser number of games played no longer applies when all teams have 82 games played.

One win by us and the Wings must go 2-0-1 or better to pass us. If we win both, they can't do it.

We still need help to pass the Kings.

They have @Anaheim, vs Phoenix, vs Edmonton, and @Colorado. If we win one of the last 2, they would need to go 3-1 to pass us. I'm liking our odds at getting the 5. Hell, let's just win em both and leave no doubt, because I don't see LA winning all 4.

My Oilers have the Wings' number this year. They could beat them.

The Oil play the Kings ... not the Wings.

Wings have a home and home with the Jackets and finish in Chicago.

Indeed for some reason i kept looking at our record against phoenix only and thought they were 1-1-1 aswell witch in fact is wrong, so yah unless some huge score differentials, we cant catch phoenix...

Or, the Wings just lose 1 of their last 3 and all we need to do is split.
LA can still pass us just by winning their games in hand, so we need one LA loss to control our own destiny completely

Yeah, I saw that after making the post. I still like our odds at getting the 5 though.

will be interesting if the Wings/Hawks game hs the 6/7 seed riding on it. Anyone think the hawks would tank a game vs the wings in order to avoid them in the playoffs?

Also wouldnt surprise me to see Ellis in net for 1 or both of the remaining games to rest Peks.
But then again, They have 3 days off before the next game, then a 2 day break before the finale saturday, not exactly a tough schedule.

I'd play Ellis Wednesday and Rinne for the finale. Pekka deserves to play in the finale. No way should Ellis play both games. Rinne can't afford to go 10+ days without seeing game action.

Rinne can and should play both games. He doesnt need to get stale. its only going to be two games in about a ten day stretch. He needs to play against Phoenix especially since they are a possible round 1 opponent.

Just looked at our record and found something to be very interesting. Our home and away record are identical. How bizarre is that? Montreal and LA are the only other teams that are close to this record. Both are one win, loss or tie away from doing this as well.

Whom ever we eventually get, they just have to prepare themselves for a first round exit

Agreed. I think Ellis may have played his last game as a Predator.

Very happy where we are right now. As long as we don't play the Wings or the Sharks in the first round (which we won't), then I'm satisfied. Way to go, Preds!

If Ellis sees ANY time in the playoffs either

A. Pekka got hurt

B. We are getting shelled and losing

Therefore, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I hope we don't see Ellis in the PO's

Sigh... I hope neither of those happen but I hate to think that Ellis doesn't get to go out with a bang, or a real goodbye game. He was a great goaltender and a real nice guy. We didn't even get to see his last game as a Predator. Sad...
