Hopefully Malkin can get his head removed from his ass while he's out.

Is this one of those deals where an MRI after swelling dissipates can detect a fracture? Or is the negative X-ray the final word?

MRI's aren't for bone fractures.

This. It seems like his game has been declining since the beginning of the season. I don't know if he puts too much pressure on himself or if he's content with his big contract. I tend to think he needs to relax and stop trying so hard but who knows?

Wow! I could never have guessed they'd give us fans the old "day-to-day" mantra, again. I'm just so surprised.

Thanks, media puppets .. for giving us such great, interesting, informative news.

And thanks, Penguins organization, for spooning-out the same old drivel to us through your media puppets.
What the hell do you expect them to say? I don't understand how "x-rays are negative" and "day-to-day" are mantras or drivel. They're, you know, medical terms.

Isn't he a few games removed from a 13 game point streak?

He's lucky his foot wasn't anchored. Watch the replay. It looks as though his foot goes flying back from the force of the puck. That likely dissipated a lot of the impact. Had Geno been stopping on that skate it might have been worse.

Well, they're checking for broken bones.

Positive would mean their search led to what they were looking for, a positive result.
Negative means negatory, there was nothing found.

Its not that complicated...

I hope he sits out a week. This will be a blessing... He's played a lot of hockey this year and this will be a short rest before tuning up for the playoffs.

I should have prefaced my remark w/, by superstar standards. I know he's better than most in the league but he just isn't dominating he should be IMO. By the end of last year he had me thinking that he may have more upside then Sid. He played big and his shots were fast and accurate. Maybe it's all the opportunities that he is blowing that has me feeling down on him. He crosses the blue line and it's a crap shoot as to what your going to get. There seems to be 50/50 chance that his decision with the puck is going to result in a goal but you never know for who. He either makes a great play or a terrible one that goes the other way and ends up in our neg. I might be okay with that if that's what we've come to expect from him but it's out of character which is why I agreed with the guy about Malking taking a break and hopefully getting his head out of his butt during that time. His plus minus is terrible

Basically L2 becomes an upgraded version of the normal L3 with adding size and scoring ability and L3 does not suffer majorly with Talbot in the middle. Just a loss of size and goal finishing in the center but still the same on the wings.

Plus it gives a chance for Dupuis to play with Poni a bit and see how they work together.
Just for ***** and giggles, and because I'm bored as **** at the airport. Say Malkin WAS traded(and i'm not proposing he is btw and plus he's my favorite player). It'd be interesting to see the kind of lineup of new wingers we could throw out there, while having a solid 3rd and 4th line we already have.

And please, don't be a tool and go

Maybe it is because I am not giggling at all, but I would say that there is still a salary cap, and if it was really all that appealing to substitute Malkin's 8.7 million dollar cap-hit for a 2nd/3rd line center and an elite winger, then that's likely what Shero would do. A Stanley Cup on the back of a Conn Smythe performance from 22 year old Geno says its a gamble not worth making.

Malkin didn't practice, lines were:

Poni-Crosby-Dupuis
Kunitz-Staal-Guerin
Cooke-Kennedy-Feds
Rupp-Adams-Talbot-Godard rotating 4th line

Interesting. What does everyone think? Kennedy hasn't played center since he's been with the big club has he?

Not that I recall. He did a little bit after Malkin left the game the other day though.

Well .. you know .. I was kinda hoping for maybe a reporter or journalist to ask Geno something like .. "So, Geno .. how is your ankle?" .. or .. "So, Geno .. do you feel like your ankle is going to keep you out of any games, and if so .. about how many games?" Or even .. "So, Geno .. do you feel like you're going to have to miss any games?"

Something like that, maybe. Ya know?

Perhaps the government is keeping you alive for the sole purpose of torturing you by forcing you to be kept in the dark about sports injuries.

Why is everyone jumping to conclusions here? All this talk of Malkin being injured just makes me want to fly out to a resort island and order a martini. But I swear to god if there's salt on the glass Ill burn the place to the ground.

Honestly, he needs to miss a few games...

He's just, not there. He needs to relax, focus on the post-season, and help up repeat.

Take your time Geno, we need you healthy when it matters the most!

Its nothing a tampon cant fix. He just isnt the same player this year. Its not like he is recovering from a huge injury or anything. IF he doesnt get it together for the playoffs the fans will crucify him. I think everyone is just waiting for him to hit his stride and if it doesnt come the Pens will be bounced early from the playoffs.

Idk the shoulder problems could still be around. It would explain his lack of PP goals, he seems a little more reluctant to take that slapper at times.
