Heatley this year

Hey guys, Habs fan here who are happy to not see Heatley in Sens uniform 'cause he was a killer for us haha...

Anyway, we all know Heatley can score 50 goals in a season, he has the talent.

BUT, other than that, how is he? I mean, his attitude, work ethic, defensive play, etc...

Do you like him or not?

hes almost twice the player I ever thought he was. IF the guy could actually skate he would be a freaking force.

I like him here more than I don't.

He's got a huuuge contract, but I think he is a big reason why Marleau is having such a great year as well.

Danny Freakin Heatley. If he is the boost in Playoffs this team sadly needs then I am all for it. If the same results happen then the trade wasn't worth it. (BAUGH ha)

He's not a liability in te defensive zone and even plays some pk, he also goes to the garbage areas to score goals. My only compliant is that a breeze knocks him down.

I think he does a fairly good job of backchecking and playing defensive hockey. He does get PK time as well, and is a shorthanded threat. He's also a pretty decent playmaker. He gets shots off from pretty much anywhere and everywhere, and sometimes I don't even know how he gets them off. He just does.

He's a little soft for a guy his size, and can be knocked off the puck way too easily for being 6'3 215 or whatever he is. He's not that great of a skater, and it seems like the only time he's motivated to skate at 100% is when he has a breakaway opportunity. He's the kinda guy that can be totally invisible for most of the game and then pot a couple of goals.

I remember that breakaway in OT against the Blues, I have no clue how he didn't get caught.

Everyone was gassed. It was a battle of who can move the slowest.

He's been great. With all the talk about him floating and not caring. I'm surprised how hard he's played and how much he wants to win. Easily one of the best sharks this season.

I'm a pretty vocal critic of his, for better or worse, but my final statement is:

If he can play for us in the playoffs like he did in the olympics, I'll love him. He floats a little now, but it IS the regular season, after all.

That's true. But like you said... everyone was gassed. Heater still beat em. And it's not the first time he's split the D straight up the middle.

He's not a quick skater... Heater's like Jumbo that way. They're so tall, that they only need to lower their ass and take two strides to be through the neutral zone.

Yup he is. I own all seasons (except 5) on DVD. Mac and Charlie write as well as direct.

It'a all about the D.E.N.N.I.S. System.

I don't think I've ever seen a player get knocked off the puck as easily as Heatley. Even Cheechoo would fight to maintain his already piss-poor balance. Heatley just folds like a used Kleenex.

Other than that, Heatley's been alright. He scores goals.

Pucks to the net is his game, and he does it well. It's exactly what the Sharks have been needing since Cheechoo's 56 goal year.

He hasn't disappointed me in any way so far. I didn't expect him to be this blur down the ice or a big power forward that can't be touched. One of the few true snipers on the team (I would say Setoguchi is the other one)

Not great positionally in the defensive zone, but I'm super-impressed with his work ethic on forechecking and backchecking.

And of course, he's got a pretty nice shot.
