Matt Damon teases plot details for fifth Bourne movie
by Devan Coggan • @devancoggan
Posted December 21 2015 — 2:34 PM EST

After letting Jeremy Renner take center stage in 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, Jason Bourne is back, and Matt Damon is about halfway through filming the fifth movie in the series. In an interview with Variety, he teased a few small production updates and talked a little bit about why he decided to once again reprise his role as one of the world’s greatest assassins.

“I wasn’t sure,” Damon said about whether he thought was done with the franchise after The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007. “I hoped I wasn’t because I really liked the franchise and the character but I didn’t see a way to go. But I wasn’t giving up on the idea of doing it. [Director] Paul [Greengrass] and I kind of talked years ago about perhaps the way forward was just to let time pass and allow the world to change a little.”

Damon went on to explain that the fifth film will pick up 12 years after Jason Bourne officially went off the grid in 2004, adding, “What’s happened in those intervening years gives you a story.” He also teased a few key scenes and locations from the upcoming film, including “a nighttime riot scene” in Athens at the beginning and a “big car chase” down the Vegas strip in the third act.

The fifth Bourne movie was originally slated to be released in August 2015 but was pushed back to July 15, 2016. Julia Stiles will reprise her role as Nicky Parsons, and Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones have joined the cast.

Strip traffic restricted overnight to accommodate film shoot

Las Vegas Review-Journal

The Strip, between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue, will be down to one lane overnight Wednesday as film crews work on a production, the Metropolitan Police Department says.

All lanes will be shut down for "brief periods of time" from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday, Metro says.

Similar restrictions in the area were in place a week ago.

Metro provided no further details on what is being filmed.

In a recent interview with Variety, actor Matt Damon said filming for the latest movie in the Bourne series, which includes a Strip chase, was to start last week.

Can't really think of a better franchise when it comes to action movies. Excluding the 4th one. Stoked.

12 years after his disappearance? It should be called Bourne: Antiquity

Can't wait loved the first three, the 4th was ok but this brings it back to being about the title character. Was weird having a Bourne movie without Bourne in it even if they do reference him.

I can't say I cared much about 2 or 3 and did not see 4.

The first one was really good though!

So let's start guessing what the title then?

My pick is The Bourne Vengeance

Excited for this. I really hope they don't even acknowledge the Bourne Legacy's existence. Bury it in a dark corner & so we can all pretend it never happened.

Not to say I'm not excited but damn, how much more can they squeeze out of this? I guess it's a moneymaker though so that crushes any and all reservations Hollywood producers would have.

the Bourne trilogy is the only example I can think of where every movie is just as good as the others. Never saw the 4th because I heard it was turrible.

The Lord of the Rings?

All three movies feel exactly the same to me.
