Finished the 2nd season on blu-ray, looking forward to getting the 3rd season tomorrow.

Really like Tim Olyphant in the role; not booking any vacations in rural Kentucky anytime in the near future, however. Anyone remember the show My Name is Earl? My wife decided that Coover Bennett was an evil Randy Hickey, and it drove her crazy.

Everyone drinks a lot on that show. Seriously, Raylan's guzzling bourbon in every other scene. Good cameo by Jimmy James as the psycho judge in season 1. Good writing on the show as well; nice to see cops that are actually fleshed out well as intelligent human beings, flawed though they may be.

Best line in show so far: "Ah...I can't hurt my only child. Jimmy? Hurt my only child."

Looking forward to season 3 just as soon as I'm done with season 4 of Grumpy Ron Perlman vs Everybody...oh, wait. I mean: Sons of Anarchy season 4.

God damn that was a great episode, even better than the season premier.

Caught me off guard for sure, also in that same scene was probably one of the few times you see Boyd scared and not sure what to do. He just had this: "Oh ****, that didn't go as planned, no idea what to do now" look on his face, loved it.

Wynn Duffy looked much, much more sinister. In past seasons I always thought he looked a little goofy, like comic relief. But this time he was straight up gangster.

Also looked like he aged like crazy, or did I just not realize how old he is before?

Reminded me of Shane Vendrell so much.

Agree completely! He always seemed kind of bumbling before but he really stole that scene.

Why would she tell him she used to do that with her ex, only to end up doing it a few hours later ? Either she changed her mind completely or was forced by her ex. Something doesn't add up.

By the looks of the previews for next week, I would say she was forced.

Just blew through season one...

I will definitely be caught up in time for the last few episodes of the ongoing season. What a fine show.

It only gets better. So far, I'd season season 1 was the "worst" of them all.

So far this season has the "worst" villain of all the seasons. It's tough to tell who the main enemy for Raylan is going to be at this point as they continue to play up the mystery of the bag and Arlo and all that's going on there.

Most of the season previews pegged Boyd and Raylan as working together so I doubt they'll become enemies again, at least this season.

Yeah, so far I'd definitely agree with that. I'll be curious to see what comes of the wife's husband in the coming episodes. Maybe he has some potential.

I don't know, he's too one-dimensional and monotone and just overly bland for me, at least so far. He doesn't quite fit the bill of the cunning and animated villains past of this show.

Perhaps a bit unfair to suggest I have a full read on a character who has appeared in just two episodes so far, and not for that long, but that's the read I'm getting currently.

I think the producers said before the season that there wouldn't be a "big bad" (like Mags or Quarles) this year.

I agree, and the whole on the run thing that they'll likely go, doesn't really fit with Justified. If the guy really wanted to get away, he'd leave Kentucky all together and not just hitting up local convenience stores for quick cash. It's not like he has anything tying him down to Harlen, and hardly a top destination... especially with him technically not being allowed to leave Florida.

In short, I do agree he is pretty bland and one dimensional. Really don't want the whole battle over a woman throughout a whole season, if that's where they go with it. Too much drama for a show like this.

Did they say why? To me, that's part of what made the show so great.

I think its somehow tied into the Drew Thompson thing, hence why the psychic knew about the fight with Randall and sent the FBI agent to the gym.

Here you go:

Quote:
WON’T — A big bad. “We were afraid of becoming a show that does a bad guy a year,” Yost said. So they came up with a central mystery revolving around the Givens family, kicking off with the guy who parachuted to his death (is he actually dead?) 30 years ago and Waldo Truth. Of course, there will be plenty of medium-size baddies along the way.

I might be the only one, but this season has started kind for slow for me. No doubt it will pick up and **** will hit the fan, but it doesn't feel like the Justified I love to watch.

And I think not having a "big bad" isn't the right move. They seem to be juggling too many story lines.

I just saw the premier. It was really really good.

I really hope they continue with Limehouse. That guy was awesome.
