So yeah it returns Tuesday

Also read this awesome article about the series/character.
http://www.freep.com/article/2012011...xt|FRONTPAGE|p

It had some good info in there about the author of Fire in the Hole and how the series actually brought him back to writing the character. The new Book comes out Tuesday also.

I'm going to have to read his work now.
This is what he said of Olyphant as Raylan

Quote:
'When I saw the pilot and I saw Timothy Olyphant, I thought, ‘God, he’s perfect for it,’ because how often do you see an actor who is exactly the way you heard him when you wrote him?

White Collar and Justified are the two most underrated shows in all of TV. Actually, toss Psych in there as well.

Just finished/caught up with this series, great TV. Can't wait to start Season three, it's going to be painful waiting a full week between episodes though.

Olyphant is such a charismatic guy that he can play Raylan without making him feel like a dbag. Boyd is a great character as well, and they're the best "frenemies" on TV.

I love this show. Givens and Boyd are the two best characters. I also like Arlo, he's hilarious.

Olyphant is phenominal in these roles.

Justified - Season 3

Starts tonight on FX.

Just behind Breaking Bad for my favorite show on TV. Excellent show for those who have never seen it...

****ing awesome episode last night. Him and Boyd were just awesome together as usual. Also loved when he pulled the table cloth at the end, and said sorry about that to his woman. So many easy jokes, that could only be pulled off by him and his delivery. 9/10 episode last night for sure.

The tablecloth thing was awesome, although I almost would have rather seen that guy as a recurring character.

What I love, reading a few of the blogs about the show, Walton Goggins was supposed to get kilt off in the first series, but they realized about a week before they were to shoot the episode that his character was part of the fun of the show and that they needed his black hat hanging around as comic relief

Well he didn't shoot to kill Quinn/whatever his name was, at least I don't think he did. Hit him near the right shoulder, so that guy could come back, but there's no real use for him other than being interrogated by Raylan about whomever hired him.

He shouldn't be dead, you're correct in him shooting him in the shoulder. Something weird would have to happen for him to come back, though, as he was a serial killer they were looking for. Although it wouldn't be the first time a show had a prisoner escape jail, or find a loophole in the evidence if they did want him back.

Gotta think he is still committed to Dexter, so it seems doubtful. I think I'd get tired of his monotone voice after a while, if he did end up as a regular character.

Yeah, one thing I just noticed, he was supposed to be caught by the police during their setup. His boss was throwing him under the bus, but he hired the homeless guy to do it for him. Maybe he'll ask to speak to Raylan, or Raylan will want information out of him after he finds out that secretary and her boss were shot.

Very rarely in this show does a gun go off, and the person hit with a bullet does not die. I just find it weird they made a point to show the bullet hit him in a non-lethal spot. Maybe Raylan meant to kill him, but missed like we saw in the gun range.

It wouldn't be a huge loss because I don't think "Quinn" is a very good actor anyway.

Speaking of the secretary, who the **** was that? My God she was hot. Pissed that killed her off, would have loved to drool over her for this season.

Definitely agree with that, not to mention as I said earlier, his character would have annoyed me.

Was a pretty good episode. I didn't expect it to be on the level of the last 3-4 eps of last season so on that standard it was pretty good. The Fight between Boyd and Raylan reminded me of the fight between Swearengen and Bullock in S2 Epp 1 of Deadwood where they go over the balcony. Wonder if it was an Homage?

Looks like we have our villains for season 2 set up now with the addition of this new guy (were they calling him Limehouse? I couldn't catch his name cleanly) and the suit who killed the secretary last episode.

The new guy is like a mix of Bill the Butcher and Tyler Durden

i think that limehouse character is going to be more of the foil to boyd's character than rylan's.

i wasnt sure what to make of rylan's convo w/ boyd at the prison. was he just there to let boyd know when he was getting out? and if so why does dude end up in solitary.

I think Boyd's plan the whole time was to get put in prison so he could get closer to Dickie, he fights Raylan who gets mad and sends Boyd to prison, like he wanted.

Then Raylan realizes Boyd doesn't really deserve it and has the wheels put in motion to get Boyd out. Boyd realizes he's out of time, and Dickie is in solitary so what does Boyd have to do? Get put there as well. He worked it out with the guard that he would be put in the cell next to Dickie's and the guard would get Boyd in.

At least that's how I saw it, though I'm still unsure if Raylan knew all along what Boyd was trying to do.

Read an interview with the producers who said that in the first scene with Raylan and Winona that based on something Winona said Raylan figured out Boyd played him to get in prison. So Raylan drops the charges to get Boyd out and has Dickie put in iso till he does to protect Dickie. Boyd has to pay the guard off to get at Dickie in iso though.

As far as the Limehouse character, well I'll let the producers give that detail:
Quote:
I felt after the first two seasons that the only African-Americans we’d had on the show were either Rachel or more urban stories, like Rachel’s brother-in-law in the second season, or there was Curtis Mims, a hitman type bad guy in the first season, and there didn’t seem to be anything particularly Kentucky about it. So we started looking into the black communities in Harlan, much to many’s surprise that there are any. But there are, so what was the history of them? A lot of them formed in the ’30s and ’40s, sharecroppers who were brought up from the deep, deep South to come work in the mines, and they just collected into these little African-American hamlets. But then [executive story producer/writer] Nichelle Tramble Spellman found this story of a community that was called Coe Ridge or Coe Holler. These were emancipated slaves who were basically deeded the land from their previous owners, and they survived back in the hill country in Harlan for almost another 100 years. White landowners in the area tried to pry ‘em out, but they couldn’t get them out. So that sounded cool. And then the next part of it that we thought was great is we found out that Coe Holler was used sometimes as a refuge, as a sanctuary by battered white women, because they knew that their husbands or boyfriends or whoever wouldn’t come in after them there. So that seemed to be something that would fit with Raylan’s backstory and his mother having been beaten by his father, as well as Ava’s backstory of her life with Boyd’s brother Bowman. The third thing that pointed us that way was that one of the models for Mags Bennett in the second season was a real-life criminal matriarch named Mags Bailey, and the story goes that she kept her money hidden under a black church, because she knew no white criminals would go after it. So putting all that together, we decided what if our version of Coe Ridge or Coe Holler still existed, and the reason it existed is because of this family that had sort of served as the unofficial banking enterprise for white criminals, because they all knew no one would come and steal their money from a black community. That’s where it got started. Then we came across this perhaps fictional character named Limehouse, who was supposedly an African-American man who was sent down into the deep South to recruit sharecroppers to work in the mines, and we just loved that name. As soon as we started to come close to this character, I thought of Mykelti Williamson.
After reading that I am really interested to see where the Limehouse character goes. It also explains the look on Ava's face when Boyd told her.

I wonder if Limehouse killed that young guy for choosing wrong. We saw the hand of the other guy, I'm guessing the only real choice was to accept the hand burning as punishment.

I can already tell Carla Gugino's character is going to annoy the hell out of me. Hopefully she isn't hanging around too often but I have a feeling she will be.

Is she into porn? I just tried to look up which one she was, and my work blocked it stating porn as the reason why.
