he's one of those people on the radio that always sound like they are talking on the radio in radio speak. since he is hard to listen to as a broadcaster he is even harder to listen to in conversation

He doesn't stop talking. Tony had to beg him to shut up to ask an actual question as compared to him answering questions before they were asked.

What a bafoon.

40, yes. But when 40-goal scorers go completely dry in playoffs, you're probably going to lose the series -- the money you have to invest in that guy means that there's contributions from others.

It's probably better to keep a couple of 20-goal scorers whose game translates well into playoffs.

To me, the only reasonable way to keep Semin is if the Caps can afford to put him with linemates with which he will consistently produce (and not SOB). BMo/Belanger/Flash centers don't cut it; there's not enough cap room to find an upgrade. Help from the farm is a remote possibility, and even if successful, would only postpone the cap problems. So the only solution, IMO, is to let Semin play with Backstrom and let Ovechkin fend on his own.

All of these being unlikely to happen + Semin can't carry his line in playoffs = Caps probably better off replacing Semin with less talented, more consistent players.

All of that applies to Green, also. When people say, he just needs a Volchenkov-type partner, it's just funny -- Green is paid 5M+ and probably more next time -- he should not require an expensive partner for his game to not fall off a cliff in playoffs.

I think next year is Semin’s last in a Cap jersey; he’s going to be too expensive to keep around (since Nicky is going to command a very good raise). While Semin may have the best pure skill set of any Capital (probably top five in the entire NHL); he has what my friend describes as an “artist’s mentality” --- when he’s on he’s magnificent and when he’s not it’s pretty painful to watch. Caps will have to replace his 40 goals with two or so other wingers.

And now Poti is out for the next game, it might be serious.

Lovely.

EDIT: I know it would be a lot of our dreams to pull up Alzner. It seems like a no brainer to me. Alzner and Carlson have been playing together all year in the minors - they have chemistry already.

Volchenkov said Green is a 4th forward.

Quote:
"Green? He's like a fourth forward when he's out there for Washington. I don't see him playing that seriously defensively, but offensively he is of a lot of benefit."

Those two play the way Shultz/Green should be playing.

The news just keeps getting worse. Unbelievable. Well I hope Poti recovers. Eye surgery sucks. There are more important things in life than hockey.

Tom Poti, puck to the eye and out a few weeks, that friggin sucks. Poti has been our best D. Bowing out for now leading the NHL in plus minus at +9, thats damn good work. Dudes a gamer, it wasnt a fluke. He showed more heart in this series than most.

I like old school hockey as much as anyone but this is another case of "you're an idiot for not wearing a visor".

Eye surgery? For real? That sounds serious.

So they called Alzner up to join the practise again. It's sure he won't wear a game jersey unless Sloan and Erskine get injured too...

That failed thread should be titled, Poti Out, Alzner Up

The practice, and experience, will be good for.... expletive laced tirade something.

Green nominated for the Foundation award per tsn.

In the article I found the reason why he sucks in the playoffs.

Quote:
Green co-founded So Kids Can, a fundraising initiative that benefits youth-focused organizations each year. He donates $100 for every goal he scores and $50 for each assist and the figures are doubled during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

His charity organization raised nearly $30,000 last year for families that have children who have lost a limb or have a congenital limb deficiency.
He wants to keep his money!
