This is working out well for me...great timing. Got it with my tax refund, sold my Dream for $250, and my buddy just got a job with Telus. Is able to buy out my contract with rogers and offer me a much cheaper retention plan. So I will also be able to buy the Milestone for $150, then turn around and sell it for like $500.
I ordered Thursday around 2pm. My first order actually didnt go through (forgot my middle initial when putting in my name for the CC...doh) If I had ordered earlier in the day I think it would have made it Friday. Google got the phone to DHL around 8pm that night. DHL says it gets shipments from anywhere in the US to anywhere in Canada in 1 day. It sat in their warehouse all day Friday though.
They ship from Indianapolis, so it wasnt too far from from me anyway (Ottawa)
1. Proprietary charging port. Boo to no mini USB, but whatever.
2. The screen get pretty smudgy. Much worse than my dream.
The voice recognition is incredible. Me and my gf were on Google Earth for over an hour on it last night just saying things like "Sphinx" and "Stonehenge" and it whisked us to it. Great for text messages and for searching the net.
Google goggles is ridiculous. I cant believe how well it works.
Need more N1 games! They are coming, but more more more. Use the hardware please!
Now that the paid for market is open, there is soooo much more. There are even more free apps...which I dont get.
Google needs to get navigation in Canada. Now. It looks incredible.
Live wallpapers are surprisingly awesome. I thought they would be a little annoying, but its a great lil wow factor when showing off your toy.
It is so light I am checking my pocket often to make sure it is still there.
The camera is quite good. Havent tried in a number of different conditions, but so far I am impressed.
I love that your contacts pictures are their facebook profile pics. Means they are constantly changing without you having to do anything. You can override it if you want though.
The trackball seems unnecessary.
It loads everything lightning fast. Apps, webpages....fast fast fast.
The call clarity is amazing. My gf said that the speaker phone is lightyears better than my Dream.
Videos on it give me erections.
The 2.1 layout is great. The extra homescreens make a big difference.
Everything is far more polished than any android experience I have had (including playing around with a milestone). The app menu and gallery are particularly slick.
Battery time seems surprisingly good.
The auto adjust sreen brightness based on lighting conditions is pretty cool.
The phone is much MUCH sexier than it looks in pictures. Its got a very cold hard look to it, despite the rounded look.
The car dock "app" is awesome. Nice big buttons to all the things you need while driving.
The built in weather widget is great. A little ugly looking until you open it up, but customizable news and the weather in one little widget is a great use of space and creates the most used app for me.
The screen is just beyond gorgeous. Like I said, smudging is an issue, and it is quite a bit behind the screen cover, which you can see on extreme angles, but it is, without a doubt, the nices screen I have ever seen on a phone (for comparison, my last 2 phones were the Dream and n95. I have a few friends with 3gs, and I have played around on a Milestone)
Im sure I will have more complaints in a week. That is always the case. Im sure I will also find more things I love though. So far I am extremely impressed.
