I think out of the top 4 teams in the east, from a habs perspective, I'd like to see it be Pittsburgh/Washington, I have a bad feeling about NJ and especially Buffalo but for some reason Pittsburgh/Washington, I actually think we could pull off a major upset.
What I'm most excited to see, is how our team plays in general in the first round but even more-so how Halak plays.
I hope the Canadiens meet the Devils in the 1st round
I know that there are other threads on this topic but this one is especially volatile.
Now, surprisingly (for me) and honestly, I'd like to see Montreal take on New Jersey.
I know that the Canadiens' history against them is atrocious but I feel that, with the progress our team has been making, we're more than ready to take them on and knock them out.
Also, Gomez & Gionta know how to play them from having played for them. I think Brodeur is vulnerable after his olympic experience and the Devils don't really have a whole lot more than a one line offence. Their second line can be held down.
I could be wrong but that's the way I feel.
Other teams who, for the Canadiens, are potentially vulnerable as first round match-ups are the Sabres and Senators. The Capitals & Penguins would be a tough run - possible upset scenarios but very surprising.
