Eberle is doing just as well in his pro debut. Both fanbases should be pretty happy.

Great Debut!!! Why was Nycolat's goal unassisted? I thought for sure Schroeder was going to get an assist on it

We have a great little prospect on our hands.

That was a weird one, certainly looked like should've had the 2nd assist.

He showed great hands and great speed. His size didn't seem to be an issue along the boards at all as he is good with his stick.

All the PP's for the Griffins really limited his 5 on 5 time (same with Shirokov) so it'll be interesting to see a game where he can get regular shifts at 5 on 5.

I'm so confused right now. Wasn't he supposed to be a bust because of his disappointing year on a weak Minnesota team? What does he think he's doing scoring 2 goals?

It's not like you can make a whole lot out of one game, but it certainly takes a big step towards me feeling better about his production with the Gophers this season. It's not like the kid's hands turned to stone -- when you put him in a position to succeed, like at the WJC or the Moose PP, he's got weapons.

Being really short doesnt seem to be a problem for guys like Gionta and St.Louis...and hell Samsonov even. Schroeder is built like a tank frame for frame.

I saw him throw one or two hits against significantly bigger players too...

I know, but that doesn't stop my blind biasedness towards Schroeder.

haha I read this title as:

Confimed with link: Schroeder scores 2 in Moose debut

but srsly, awesome job, hopefully the Moose can make a deep playoff run so we can see how Schroeder handles some pro playoff hockey.

Schroeder is still a bust...

No hat trick. I thought it was clear he had to score a hat trick in his first game.

The Moose are desperate to just make the playoffs, nevermind a deep playoff run. Grand Rapids is the last placed team in the conference. The Moose should beat them if they have any hope of making the playoffs.

I know... they're hanging on to the last spot, I never said that it was guarenteed. I just want to see how Schroeder handles pro playoff hockey.

Yeah, a player not even a year removed from being drafted is already a bust.

I think I know why Schroeder struggled this year at Minnesota. Schroeder played unselfish hockey looking for his teammates like last year, but without the same talent around him his point/assist totals took a hit. He might've finished the year with 20 goals and 40 points had he been more selfish with the puck and used the good quick shot he has. It's one of the key things a center has to learn, that it's okay to be selfish and score goals. Took forever for Hank to understand this (about 30 games to go last season, and has scored a ton of goals when Daniel was out this year). It's okay to look pass when you have the talent around you to finish plays, but you need to be selfish when you're not surrounded by finishers.
