As a Leafs fan you should care. It could have a big impact on this team.\

First Boston is a division rival, them adding a franchise player in the draft would make them tougher to play against 6 times a year and make them harder to fight against for playoff spots in future years.

Also as we know the media in Toronto can be crazy and the bad media attention caused by the Leafs losing a top 2 pick could have a negative impact on the team and Phil Kessel. At the very least it would be a bad distraction. Think about the pressure it would put on Phil Kessel. What happens when he goes through a slump and the fans get on him cause "he cost us the first overall pick".
Look at what happen to Bryan McCabe when the fans got on him and he couldn't handle the pressure of his big contract.

Since the end of the lockout, the Leafs have owned March and April. Remember the back-to-back drives for ninth? Put a no-pressure/meaningless game in front of the Leafs, and, boy, do they respond. Year after year, we end up with the most exciting hockey, and I keep saying to myself that I hope they funnel this energy and excitement into the beginning of next season.

Over the past six seasons, the Leafs have finished a combined 61-37-9, which is good for a 100 point per season pace.

Below is the March/April record from the past six years. (I included the 4 game winning streak at the end of February in 2007-08, because I like to manipulate stats like that)

Season - March/April - 82 game Pace

2003-04 - 10-5-1 (108 points)

2004-05 - 14-7-3 (106 points)

2005-06 - 10-6-2 (100 points)

2006-07 - 8-7-1 (87 points)

2007-08 - 9-9-1 (13-9-1) (96 points)

2008-09 - 6-3-1 (107 points)

March/April pace - 57-37-9 (98 points)
Overall 61-37-9 (100 points pace)

3 of those games went to OT. If that matters.

Sundin ties the game up with 21.8 seconds remaining, staving off elimination. That was an incredible moment

Geez and I thought the ACC was a tomb, no atmosphere nothing but a bunch of suit wearing, sushi loving, blackberry crackberries Bay Street tycoons closing business deals ignoring the game. Silly me.

I hope but not happening. We need some of these teams to fall flat on their faces and the best we can do now is just hope we win out.

True, but we've got an entirely different team now - and one that will only improve with all the youth on it.

Done

Changes:

+2 on Florida
+2 on Tampa Bay
+1 on Columbus

But seriously I gotta give props to the Hurricanes. They just beat the Caps AND Penguins 2 games in a row. They just don't give up.

Only thing that needs to be updated is the Islanders vs Kings game, which I am not staying up for and I will update tomorrow.

Let's destroy Florida boyss!!

Hmph, normally I would agree with such a notion (Leafs always bomb when it matters the most). But I think the Leafs will pull through. We will need Giguere to be on his game ofcourse. We are 2-1 against the Panthers this season. Let's make it 3-1 boys!

We will also NEED Florida to lose tomorrow against the Lightening (in regulation). And then a win on Tuesday against the Panthers, and we will be 1 point out of the bottom 2 (although Florida will have a game in hand).

The thing is, we are also chasing Tampa Bay though. The hope is to get ahead of them both, no?
