Something I kind of stumbled on while I was trying to mess with playoff avatars. They're not really prospect-y in the design (which is somewhat lifted off of this year's hockey cards in terms of the transparent team-colored box, plus a little bit of getting away from the standard avatar setup by shrinking the picture to give them an irregular overall shape.) but I ended up sticking prospects into them just because I needed temp players for the design process. If there's any sort of positive reaction, I could do a production run for more prospects.

13-14 Sharks CI Feed Tracker: 82 GP |29-39-14 (SJ-Opponent-Van/Nat'l) www.bluejayshipsters.comWe liked the Blue Jays before it was cool. Sorry, I am not taking signature requests at this time.
The look really nice. I like how the color scheme matches the Sharks colors. They seem sort of small though. Is that by design, or are these shrunken versions?
They are shrunken slightly so that the info boxes can sit outside the border of the player picture. The full dimension of the avatars is the standard 125x125 including some of the grey area around the outside that blends with the sidebar background
I think they're pretty neat Nem, my only problem is that the text on the bottom (name, team, etc.) I think is too small, and I think that makes it distracting. It's hard to read, so my eye doesn't jump to it as text, but it leaves these white lines on the bottom that I find distracting (does that make any sense?). I think that might be solved by just cutting down the amount of text, like just saying the name, or dropping the position and number or something.
Although if they're left as is I'd probably still grab a Stalock one .
it'd help if the people that suggest modifications would point out what issues they have so I know what I'm targeting (well, the ones that didn't say anything already)
anyway, I've made a tweak to the text box to make it less cluttered and smaller. I also have (for illustrative purposes) the design both with and without the internal borders (so that the picture takes up the whole 125x125)
Personally, I like the internal bordered one because it creates a different shape than standard square avatars (because the boxes jut out to the sides of the borders).
Regardless, I can pump out a full set of whatever design ends up being used for prospects whenever we nail that down. I have 3 or 4 pictures for most guys in the system.
200 views and only 12 people have voted. In fairness not all of those views were after the poll was added, but still it's not unreasonable to assume something like a 10:1 ratio of views to votes.
Even if I somehow believed that the vote setup were a proper sample, it's still 11 to 1 in favor of what is at least something resembling what I put up. So I'm going to lock this up and do a proper release thread once I have the avatars ready to go.

Yeah, I tell people that and it sounds like a joke. But then there's this:
I liked his Giants mask better though:
EDIT: I hope I might get a release of avatars in tonight. Before I left for class I was working alphabetically and I got as far as Ferriero. I don't have my laptop with me right now so no photoshop or files, and then I'm headed straight from here to the game. So when I get home at 10:30-11 I'll probably post my thoughts on the game and then see if I can't finish up the remaining avatars. It's all templated out and just a matter of swapping pics and text.
there's a half-naked woman on the other side of his mask.
I was gonna say, you have him facing the wrong way in the Avatar
Although I do like his old one better too. More goalies should put pin-up girls on their masks though. Also, Sexsmith should be called up to play back-up just for the mask. He'll be required to wear it on the bench.
edit: Actually, I think this Giants mask is best:
Was that his first Giants mask?
