The more I think about this losing streak the less I mind. Ever heard of a 17 game losing streak? Neither have I. With 10 games left, if they start to get going in 5 games or so, we'll be fine.

"The longest losing streak in NHL history is the property of the 1974-75 Washington Capitals and the 1992-93 San Jose Sharks, each team losing 17 games in a row."
You see, all of our players know that Doug Wilson overpays like crazy. So for the sake of the club's future, they all play like **** so that DW would offer less.
McLellan would pro-bably see that as a sign of teamwork.
I'd rather they slump now than next month. If they can get things rev'd up for April, they could even get hot and if so we'll see where that takes the Sharks. As for conspiracy theories, I can only think of two 1) Avoid the Presidents Trophy, which as the Sharks proved last year is useless hardware and pretty much a consolation prize. If this is the case Washington is at 106 points, so the Sharks have little to worry about there. 2) Avoid Detroit in the first round, which I will conceed isn't a bad idea...they could be "this years' Anaheim Ducks"...
Imagine what that would do for this team to actually face the fear...Take on Detroit round one, win in 7 and possibly play a team like Colorado in the 2nd round......The confidence would be deemed excessive.
Sharks go on a losing streak to make sure they don't get into first and face, the suddenly surging 8-1-1 Detroit Redwings who are now in 8th with a gap over the 9th place team. And strangely over the past week, each change in the Sharks standing, was matched by a similar change to Nashville which would pair those two in the first round. Coincidence? I think not.
Every team wants to play SJ in the first round.... except Nashville. And the Sharks don't want to play the 8th place Wings ... who are now 3 points out of 5th ...which is the team the Sharks will play if they lose the the Pacific to the Yotes. So the Sharks start a winning streak. Coincidence? I think not.

I, for one, don't care whether we face the Wings the first round or not. This is a recurring debate in the hockey world, but I fall on the side of, "if you want to win the cup, it doesn't matter who you play."
If Detroit is so good (which they very well might be), we're going to face them at some point anyway. Whether it's better to face them early or later is largely a matter of injury luck, as the style of play won't change dramatically from round 1 to round 3.
Avoiding them in the first round and ending up with Nashville just means probably playing them in the second round, and eventually playing whatever team ousted them. You do need some matchup luck to reach the cup finals, but you also need to be playing well enough to beat just about anyone.
