Toronto v Montreal 7pm ET -- CBC,NHLN-US,RDS (+HD)

================================================== ================================================== =======

Season Series: This is the fifth of six meetings between the two old foes. Montreal has won three out of four matchups, with all three requiring extra time; 4-3 in overtime on Oct. 1, 5-4 in a shootout on Oct. 31 and 3-2 in overtime on Dec. 26. The Leafs shut out the Canadiens 3-0 on Dec. 1. Jaroslav Halak was the star in the most recent game on Dec. 26, making 47 saves for the Habs.

================================================== ================================================== =======

Big Story: The Canadiens seem to be peaking at just the right time. A point behind the Flyers and the Senators, who are in fifth and sixth respectively, the Habs could leap into fifth in the Eastern Conference and second in the Northeast Division if they pick up a win against the Maple Leafs. Montreal is riding a six-game win streak and in the process has put a good four points in between them and the eighth-place Bruins. A win won't come easy in Toronto, as the home team has won four straight at the Air Canada Centre.

================================================== ================================================== =======

Who's Hot: Sergei Kostitsyn has goals in each of his last three games, scoring the game-winners in his last two. Metropolit leads the Habs with 10 power-play goals and is having a career-season with 16 goals and 13 assists. Andrei Markov, with an assist on Tuesday, is riding seven-game point streak with 10 points.

Kessel has five goals and two assists in his last five games and despite notching the game-winner Thursday against the Devils, Kulemin's six-game points streak (4 goals, 4 assists) came to an end, as shootout goals don't count toward a player's stats.

================================================== ================================================== =======

Gill-Gorges

Injuries: Mara (Shoulder), Cammy (MCL), MAB (Knee)

Note: Halak could tie franchise record for goaltenders with a 7 straight win. Record set in 2002 by Jose "Super Saiyan IV" Theodore.

================================================== ================================================== =======

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

Can't wait for this one, always good games. Sure we have won 3 of 4 so far but all by one goal. I really hope they don't come in overconfident and finally really beat the Leafs.

I'd put Price personally, but since Halak could tie the franchise record with 7 straight wins, I think they'll give it to him.

I'm one of the biggest Price fans here but I say go with Halak until he loses, the team has been winning so no reason to make changes.

Go Habs Go!

I didn't realize he had a chance to tie a record (kind of surprised it's that low for us actually), so I'd definitely give Jaro the start tonight.

How does this record work? I assume it requires no other goalie to get a win or a loss between the consecutive wins?

Because if it's just wins in a row, Hainsworth holds that record with 11.

Call me crazy, but I don't think this will be a high scoring game tonight.

2-1 Habs

Pouliot
Metropolit

Kessel

Looking forward to seeing how the Habs can deal with Leafs defensive line-up. Say what you want, but Phaneuf was a great addition to the team and Gunnarson is having one hell of a season so far. By the way, couldn't help but notice, Komisarek is not in the line-up nor is he in the injury lists. What gives?

Let me guess. He had a tape of Martin saying this and half an hour before game time, when Price is announced as the starter, he'll say that he never had a tape and he doesn't know about the situation?

Which would explain Exelby in there.

Honestly though, if Komisarek can work on his game a little and Beauchemin can settle down, Leafs have a very solid defensive line-up.

His Twitter just says that he's on the ice for this morning's optional practice. I don't remember -- does the starter usually participate in these practices or skip them?

I think this one will be a really tough one,Leafs are playing good hockey as well and always play there best against us.Well if we don't come out on top at least the bruins pick keeps going lower,not that I want the leafs to win but i don't want boston getting a top 2 pick,screw them
