Depth wingers

Everyone is talking about our top 6 or top prospects for next year which is understandable. I was wondering can Jones, Jacques , Stone and Stortini all be Oilers next year ?? Probably not so which 2 or 3 stay even if it's a 13 or 14 forward role. I think Stortini is as close to lock for 4th line duty next year. Pouliot is in this mix as well I guess even though he plays a slightly different role. I think injuries and consistency is a knock against Jacques and Stone. Anyway what do you guys think our bottom 8 will look like next year ( including the 2 pressboxers )

Jones-Horcoff-Armstrong
Carcillo-Pouliot-Stortini

Pressbox = Stone.

My guesses.

from my perspective the last injury to JFJ had been rolling him out to the dust bin and looking elsewhere for a physical presence. He is too injury prone and the fact he can not be depended on to be there during the tough times is frustrating

I don't think JFJ or Ryan Stone has any place on this team next season.

Potulny, Pouliot, Jones, Horcoff, Cogliano are probably locks which leaves 2 remaining roster spots to be filled.

A couple of crusty veterans who can kill penalties and play a two way game would be nice. But then, some have been saying that for three years.

In a perfect world we somehow land David Clarkson, and one of S. Nichol or Z. Konopka in UFA.

Potulny-Horcoff-Clarkson
Jones-Konopka/Nichol-Stortini
Jacques/O'Marra

I don't think Jaques or Stone return next season. They might still be here at the training camp, but they'll likely be waived/traded before the season starts, Similar to the situation with Reddox and Schremp this season.

We have players to fill the roles of Jaques and Stone, and neither one really proved anything this season, both suffering injuries and making minimal impact on the ice, other than throwing hits.

Honestly assuming we trade no forwards and just drop players like Jaqcues/Stone to the minors I think something along these lines would be tried. Eberle probably gets a chance with Horcoff and Hemsky at some point becaue I doubt Quinn wants a line as small as Eberle/Omark - Gagner/Cogliano - Brule.

Eberle - Horcoff - Hemsky
Penner -Gagner - Brule
Omark - Cogliano - ?????
Potulny - Pouliot - Jones

Storitini
Nilsson

Question Mark is hopefully..... say David Clarkson who we get for Souray. Give some gr

I liked what Stone brought when he was healthy. I wouldn't mind seeing him get another shot.

I think our bottom six needs to see a major overhaul. Not nearly mean enough to compete and we have a ton of tweeners that have seen bottom six time. Hate him or love him, I really like the way Brian Burke builds his teams with the bottom six full of grit. Bonus points if those guys can PK, be good on draws, etc.

Scott Walker on the cheap might not be a bad pick up either. Gritty and a good veteran.

There in lies the problem, as much as I like Hall, Horcoff in ur top 6 i cant stand and with Seguin u can bump him down I think that might be the way to go especially If they are a close 1-2

And a defenceman. Maybe Ryan Parent from the Flyers?

Yes a top 4 defenseman. I'd go with a guy with some experience. Maybe a Zbynek Michalek or a Volchenkov.

I think Michalek will resign with Phoenix. Volchenkov or Hamhuis would be a fine addition.
