One hell of a way to close the curtain on Mellon Arena for us. Sweet justice after all the bad memories we've had there.

Not to spoil McBain's party, but Rodney deflected that.

Hey, Hey Whataya Say!!! That my friends feels freaking marvelous. I agree with whoever said Staal is injured. I'll be amazed if he plays tomorrow. He was really holding his stomach skating off the ice in OT.

The kids have me mega psyched for next season!

I was yelling at the TV for Staal to get off the ice, I don't even know how Mo let him on, he looked so gassed (and at the end of the shift, obviously injured).

Notice who was on the ice for the winning goal? LaRose and Cole.

Seriously though, great effort by LaRose in the last 20 seconds or so...and a hell of a pass by (I think) Dwyer up to LaRose for that last gasp effort that ended up in the net. I love 4-on-4.

What a roller coaster of emotions. First disappointment that LaRose couldn't bury that two-on-one (though he was smart enough not to try for Cole), then the second chance, when two Pittsburgh players lose their sticks simultaneously. Orpik (surprise) then boards LaRose after losing his stick, but not before the pass to McBain was made.

Wooo!

Beating Penguins is one of the greatest things you can do in ice hockey. And when you do it in OT, oh yeah!

As bad as this year has been, we've been blessed with some of our young talent taking solid steps. Sutter, Boychuk, McBain, Carson, Peters. Not to mention other prospects getting solid time in Albany. We should see even more improvement next season from these guys and the others in Albany. That's how it should be if you're developing properly. Every year or so you should be able to add a guy or two to your roster in which you've drafted and developed. One of the reasons Lou and NJ not only don't need to rebuild, he doesn't believe in rebuilding. If you draft and develop well and properly, you'll always have guys to re-tool your roster with.

I think Rodney did score that goal, but oh well. Hopefully they won't change it.

Either way it's the first NHL goal for whoever gets credited for it. The legend of McBain is now taking off in full force.

I really wish it would stay at McBain. No offense to Rodney, but McBain scoring his first in a situation like that sounds so much better than Rodney scoring his first in a situation like that.

It seems like your team is avoiding the Fall for Hall and winning games.

Never say never to a Paul Maurice coached team.

Reading the recap, the puck was deflected, but Crosby's saying it was deflected off his hand.

McBain gets 1st star and plays close to a whopping 30 minutes. Pitkanen played 34 and change. I'd like to see Boychuk get up to around 16 minutes atleast, but he is playing well with the time he's getting, so that's a good sign. Samsonov with a team low 7 minutes. That leads me to believe he won't be here next season. I think he'll either be traded or bought out, likely bought out. I just have a hard time seeing him here. He seems to have been getting lower end minutes and has become a regular on the 4th line, which to me he is useless in that role. Guess we'll see come the offseason.

Pitkanen with 34 minutes? Wow. As critical as I sometimes am of him, all in all this season is an eye-opener. He's played so much. And the points just keep coming. Let's hope this is not an aberration, but a sign of things to come.

I really do think it's a sign of what he's capable of. He's been a 40+ point scorer before and should finish this season with 50+. His defensive game has also hit a much better level then those seasons over the past 3 years and he was one of our few defensemen that really showed up in the playoffs consistantly last year. But the last part of that last sentence is the key for him, he still needs to display that he can show up like this on a consistant basis for him to hit that next level. He's a viable #1 defenseman right now with elite potential, but until he finds that consistancy it's just potential.

Jamie McBain must be regular next season. He's ready for top 4 role!

I'd love to see something like this - Pitkanen- Pothier, Gleason- McBain, Fowler- Carson.
