That's nice but I think we've all watched this enough times. Yeah it's nice to look back at those days but at the same time it's nice to think of the bright future ahead. And right now what matters is the present and the future, not the past
I remember I was at my grandma's one year when the Leafs put the Sens out of the playoffs. I was 7-8 at the time. Its the only memory I have of the Leafs in the postseason.
Er. Wait. Didn't the Leafs play against Tampa in 04, and lost to the Bolts. I can remember Hulk Hogans daughter singing the national anthem and she as god awful.
Nope. knocked off the Senators in the quarters again. Then we lost in 6 games to the Flyers thanks to Roenick shot from down the wing after Tucker destroyed Kapanen. Never forget that moment.
Another sad thing about that video is that it makes me realize how far we really are. Sure, we have an OK foundation...but maybe some of you are too young, but those teams were magical. Full of heart. Maybe we'll never be like that again. Maybe no one will. I don't know, perhaps it's the new NHL but I haven't seen many playoff games in the past five years that resemble anything like that. Or perhaps I just can't see it because those games don't matter to me nearly as much as Leaf games. Those games had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning and nearly gave me heart attacks.
In fact, I took those years for granted for sure. Never in a million years did I think we would revert back to this. I grew way too comfortable with winning. Hell, i remember even during those regular season each regulation loss felt like someone punched me in the gut...and that's when we were only losing 25 odd games a year.
OH WOW... Forgot just how good those days are. Will we ever have a team with that much physical play, heart and determination.. Love Roberts, we should hire him to give all our players his workout regime
