Primeau....wow, what more can be said about his performance today

If anyone has just made their free agency coffers go up, Primeau did that today. He stood on his head in this important game and delivered. I have to admit that during the Bill Barber fiasco, I wanted to see Primeau go and Holik come in. Boy, am I ever glad that move did not happen. It's pretty clear that Ken Hitchcock has brought the best out in Keith and I think Keith finally understands what it means to be a leader. He played his most inspired game that I have ever seen him play. Let's hope that that isn't the last of the inspirational games that Primeau has in him. I think we as Flyers fans can clearly say that Primeau is the heart and soul and conscience of this team and that this team will go as far as he carries them. Let's win that game six in Toronto and then let's gear up for a hell of a series with Tampa Bay. For the first time in a long time, I can really sense that the cup is there for the taking and that the Flyers are looking like a team that is ready to win it all....

like i said, if Primeau goes, I declare mutiny

he hit everything in blue, followed plays nicely on goals, and had a few other chances that didn't go in. amazing performance

i've got to tip my hat to keith. as much as i hate to see the leafs get blown out in such an important game, what can i say...primeau was awesome. he lead his team in physical play and on the scoresheet. great game for philly, they deserved the result, i just hope the leafs show up for game 6.

One of the ESPN guys repeated a good point (amazingly) said something about the Lemelin telling the guys to always assume the first shot doesn't go in and head for the net. There's been plenty of average skaters in the NHL who've made a career out of that... Steve Thomas, Ciccarelli (sp?) etc.

Agreed on all counts. A nice hand shake at the end of the game Tuesday night would be perfect.

When one looks up the word "Dominant" in the dictionary, it should have as part of the definition "1. See Philadelphia Flyer Keith Primeau's performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs on 5-2-04".

I have been a Primeau fan since 1990, when he got drafted, followed him thru his bad time with Detroit, getting better with Hartford and Carolina, but now, i'm glad that everybody can see how good of a player he is. So many people have been putting him down for the longest time, saying that he was a Primeau-donna (thanks to Don Cherry), but hey, I never gave up on him, and thru all the bad time, I stuck with him. You should hear all the stuff that people are saying about him in Michigan when I wear my Primeau jerseys.... but hey, like I said, I really don't care what people say and i'm glad that I don't have to tell the world how good of a player he is, they can just read the paper....

You probably couldn't hear it on TV, but a great chant was started in the third period, directed at a number of Leaf Fans.

"Handshakes Tuesday !!!"
"Handshakes Tuesday !!!"

IMO Gagne was the 2nd best okayer on the ice.

The 3 stars IMO should have been;

1. Primeau
2. Gagne
3. Handzus

yeah i am no Primeau fan...feel he has been overrated his whole career. (living in Canes Country...boy they thought he was God here for a short while - but i am glad we got Brind'Amour for him - even now actually.)

I still am not convinced, but he has definitely gained respect in my eyes as a leader. He has kinda taken a third line defensive role and played it well. In Carolina, they wanted him to be a #1 center and he is not that type of player.

Anyway, the way he has accepted the third line role and the comments his teammates have made about him this year have changed my view of him somewhat.

I still think he is a clod, though.

I just mean, he is not a very graceful guy...take that goal he got against Jersey - the one where he brought the puck in from center ice, went deep around the dman, and pulled up on the close side of the goal to go in front of Brodeur and put it in...He looked like he was chasing the puck, ya know, like someone who isn't quite in control.

anyway...my respect is growing, just ain't there yet.
