I am the religious type - very much so - and I will spare a prayer or two or many during this Lenten season. For your mom, but also for your Dad, and also for your family, because you asked (directly and indirectly, it seems).

I'm not sure why you excluded your Dad, but it is also good to pray for him, you know ? This is something you should do as well...

I wish you peace and comfort at this time, and I too am bracing myself for the time my parents must go...
I said a prayer for his entire family. The rest of it doesn't matter, there are less and less people believing in God so maybe he didn't want to offend them? It really doesn't matter and this isn't the thread to discuss this.

One should get a lot of leeway after a major loss - please do not "nit pick".....

Guy I know exactly what you are going through, I lost my dad just a year ago to a lengthy battle with cancer. It was anything but easy, I still find myself crying from time to time thinking of him. My condolences and prayers are with you and your mom. God bless.

The absoutely classy way you treat fellow posters on this forum, callers to your show and first-time acquaintances tells me a lot about how you were raised. Your touching article about your dad told me even more. I'm very sorry for your loss Guy.

Sorry to hear about your father Guy. Your father sounded like an incredible man and the story you've written about him was amazing. Its never easy to lose a loved one especially a father you looked-up to despite rebelling against him in your teen years where you quit playing hockey. Thats normal for a teen boy and I did the exact same thing.

Good luck in life and I wish you the best!

To everyone:

I really appreciate all the kind words here, at Facebook, at the blog and the emails that I have received as well. Quite frankly I was stunned by the response from everybody and felt a lump in my throat when I saw that a thread was even started here let alone that so many people took the time to pass on their good wishes.

I'm touched and very thankful to you all.
