Winner winner, chicken dinner.

This more or less covers it.

It's pretty routine to wait a few days to a week until the swelling goes down enough to get a clear understanding of what needs to be done. Also, swelling can sometimes hold things in place (or further displace things), so it's very typical with fractures to do nothing until you know exactly what has to be done.

Additionally, it's possible they got a second opinion or saw something happening that they weren't happy with, and then decided surgery was necessary.

Exactly my thoughts.

Yep. Swelling can really screw with stuff.

Isn't it amazing when a bout of Sophmore Jinx hits how quickly people turn on someone.

I think it'd be a big mistake getting rid of Giroux. He's going to be a big time contributor for this club and he might become just as or more important than Richards or Carter.

So did he have the surgery? I haven't seen any tweets from the usual suspects.

Edit: Saw this on the Inquirer site:

Quote:
Jeff Carter, who had successful foot surgery Friday, will start his rehabilitation Sunday. General manager Paul Holmgren said it was a long shot that Carter would be able to return before the regular season ends in two weeks.

we need to get Giroux back on the wing, I felt like giving him a shot down the middle was worth it, but he needs to learn wing at this level now
