Your goal right now is to make the playoffs and all I was saying was that it can be done without being big down the middle. Once you get in and you get that big body back, all the better for you.

Kind of a pointless thing to comment on when it had nothing to do with what I was talking about. Then you get some guy saying Montreal wasn't a model for success when I never said it was lol. I know this is your territory but doesn't mean every comment from a visitor should be seen as an offense or a shot to your team. I was technically arguing the contrary. But wtv...
and your one season conference title led to a second round exit in the playoffs, which is nice i guess, but it means nothing in reality. infact, the habs have never made in past the 2nd round of the playoffs since they last won the cup in 1993...

my point is that i believe you need size down the middle if you want to challenge for the cup

That in itself is a major issue. If they still can't make the playoffs, and we say "Well, Carter got hurt" this was never a Cup contender to start with, and that was the only acceptable expectation.
This.

We're 5-5-2 since the Olympics. This team has been mediocre and inconsistent all year.

The fact that this team is in a position to have to worry about an injury to Carter affecting their playoff chances basically says it all.

Healthy or not, this team is flawed. Only one person to blame for this flawed roster, lack of draft picks and virtually no salary cap space. Ain't that right, Homer?

Most things that sound too good to be true, usually are.

That team had grit, heart, chemistry, and a goaltender in Rolosson who was far, far, far better than Boucher (and decently better than 'Miracle' Leighton, even) during that run. This team is not comparable to that team just because Pronger is here.

They also had Pronger as their leading scorer in the playoffs I think. We have more firepower, less goaltending.

Last time I checked Pronger was the highest scoring D man in the playoffs since the lockout.

In the past couple months at the theater where I work we've had Craig Ferguson, Charlie Murphy, and Jeff Garlin perform. This is almost as funny as those guys.

And Briere was the highest scoring forward until last season.

A team with Pronger, Betts, iLap, Carcillo, et al lacks grit?

So to rid ourselves of Homer and his idiotic concept of hockey, to free up space do we have a chance of gifting Carter with Briere to get him out of here.

With our cap space who knows if we could sign Carter again, plus if he is a 30 30 player, we shouldn't give him superstar money.

I'm not really sure what happened to Boucher.

Did you waive him? Betts rules and everyone here knows it

I wouldn't want Park here.

Waived, or traded for futures, or taken out to the barn. Doesn't really matter. (I actually do think he's much better then he's been playing, but I prefer Leighton)

Park seems like a good hard worker, he always does well when he plays the Flyer's too.

I made that roster without accounting for Briere, but I'm sure we could get some picks and prospects for him.

no room on the 4th line for Park. we need 3rd line players who can score and are gritty.

He's put up 30 points playing for the Islanders the last few years. It seems reasonable that he could put up 40 here, although he wouldn't get any power play time or anything. I wouldn't mind bringing in someone else, maybe Bertuzzi or Prospal (although he will never sign here), but Park seems like a good fit here, and the kind of hard working player that could help this team.

Yea I mean our lines are still better than the other teams in the bottom half of the East. We can still win games. Im more worried about having a rusty carter for the first round.

Yeah those are the kind of guys we need. Cheap vets on 1 year deals.

Koivu, Bertuzzi, Morrison, Prospal,Modin, Madden, Nolan,Tanguay, Lehtinen,Higgins,

are all free agents
